Two thing that don't go together I know. I've had this truck for 2 years now. I bought this truck for a dealer in NJ to pull my 28ft Cabin Cruiser at the time. I've never really felt this truck had the power I thought a diesel should have, and no where near the gas mileage.

My first problem stated with the PMD module, I put a replacement the was off of the intake and that has seemed to fix the cutting off problem. I now have a po236 error code, which from reading post has something to do with the wastegate solenoid. I assume that has something to do with the turbo and could be the cause of the power issue.

I plan on buying a solenoid to see if it fixes the check engine issue. What else could contribute to the power issuse? I'm not sure if I have a chip on my truck, but would love to put one on if I could increase the power and/or gas mileage. What chip is the best for my truck?

Thanks, I love the truck, it's big and bad ass.... just need th power I had thought I would get. Any suggestions would be great. Will post a picture soon.

What kind of fuel mileage do you get? Unloaded or towing?

Hard to tell hauling because I've never hauled for any real distance, always less than 200 miles. I'm getting around 11-12 not hauling, interstate with some side roads. Went to the mountains last weekend and it didn't seem to have the power going up the hill either.

I've seen such difference in what people get for gas milage on these trucks, what's normal?

If you have a 3500 you probably have the 4:11 gears. Diesel's get the best mileage under 2000 rpm's which would limit your speed to about 60 mph. I get 12 mpg at 72 mph empty with my F350. MPG goes to 17-18 when I drive 55-60 empty, 14 loaded. My C2500 gets 19 empty but with the 3:73's I can run about 70.

That unloaded mileage is pretty low, even if you have deeper gears. I would check the basics first. When was the fuel filter last changed? Air filter? If they are both good and mileage and power are still low I would suspect a timing issue. However, keep in mind these engines aren't a Duramax, so don't expect huge towing performance. They can be made to do quite well, but stock they have less towing power than the Vortec 454.

The wastgate solinoid is a very common failure. The plastic vacume lines running from the vac pump and back to the actuator are very failure prone. The vacume pump its self can also fail.

might try changing injectors

If you dont have much power and bad mileage I think I would look for a problem in the wastegate system. Its failure prone and can be fixed easily and permanently for $100 or less with a turbo master. If you buy a boost gauge and can make your own turbo master then you can have it fixed for about $40 or so.
