My search didn't work so anyone got a quick how to front cv replacement??

I've changed many on my 98, with the lift now i can fit it out without removing anything, before the lift as i recall i would pop the upper ball joint off..

Just wondering the best method for my 06 with only some crank of the t-bars.

Thx

On my 04 it is fairly easy, pull the cap off the end of the bearing hub and remove the nut[35.5mm or some say a 36mm will work]. Remove the bolts off the axle shaft and you should be able to compress the cv shaft and slide it out with the truck jacked up. It is easier to take the cap off the bearing hub with the tires off so the truck will be on jack stands anyway or a lift if you have one .You might have to tap with a hammer the spline end of the cv shaft to loosen it in the hub. charlie

Im pretty sure on the 2500 or larger you can fit it though to the inside of the truck without too much trouble, may have to remove a shock bolt or sway bar end link possibly but its better than the ball joint.

On my 03 lower shock bolt removed front wheel drooping from truck being in the air and a 36mm socket & it came right out. About 15 minutes start to finish and about $65 to my door (cardone). Piece of cake.

awsome, went really well on this truck. No more clunking. Lifetime warrenty.

Thx for the info, i removed the lower shock, lower mount bolt and losed to top so it spun out of the way then the axle slid out with nothing. :D

Ready for the snowfall now!!

right on Senor Bow tie.!!
I just did one this past fall...and came to the conclusion that loosing the shock was the only way to go. pretty easy actually. got a bit wise and with the front end up, used my 4 wheel drive button to lock the front when lossening or tightening the bolts on the diff side. then back into 2 wheel to let the cv spin to get at the other 3.

I was in Sudbury and called ya for lunch on Tuesday...musta been under the truck..??

cheers,
