I think I am noticing a little more"rattle" under accelaration, I wonder if it is because of the weather getting cooler or maybe I'm just paranoid? I am going to check the balance rates today. I just had injectors done about 50k ago.

Run between 16 and 32oz of 2 cycle, takes mine away until it gets down to -15*.

Will do, I usually run Stayadyne, is the 2 stroke oil better?

hey justin wich of the stanadyne additives do you use the winter 1000 or a different one, i use howes diesel treat with every fill up and have very good luck with it. ive heard good and bad things about using 2 stroke oil but doing more reading on it

I use 16oz, but thats only to keep my injectors alive until I get them installed two weeks from today.

I've heard that 2 stroke can carbon up the tips and the molecular structure causes issues. There was a thread a couple of years ago about it and I might go and see if I can find it.

ok ive read quite a bit on adding 2 stroke oil to diesel now, and i talked to my neighbor who is a very reputable diesel mechanic and he tells me that adding 2 stroke oil is not good for the type of fuel injection system the duramax has because its much more viscous than diesel fuel is and putting heavy oil into a high pressure injection system could cause problems, also the possibility of more carbon build up, but i dont know at what mixture would start causing problems

I think drop the timing 2 or 3

I have been using the regular one, didn't know they had a "winter 1000"? By the way who is this?

Add 2 cycle oil at 1:256 to 1:128 ratio. It won't thicken the
fuel's viscosity by any measurable amount. Does 1:30 saw fuel
pour like honey? But it will help lubricate the fuel system and
won't cause any more residue than normal fuel. A leaking thermostat
will cause heaps and loads more residue from the lower operating
temperatures. (the ratio is 1 oz per gal or 1 oz per 2 gal)

But you still need to add something to depress the cloud point
so it won't gel up. I use Howes and have had better luck with
it than with PS in the white bottle.

this seems like a good group to ask this question......i use the power service in the white bottle on every fill up....my fuel mileage just crashed big time. i was getting around 18, put on tires idler and pitman arm, and lined it up, i also took the waste gate in one turn and got 1 psi more boost out of it getting me up to 24 psi on max level. it was really bad but after refreshing my air filter i am now getting 15 to 15.5. is this just because of winter mix or do i have something else going on? fresh injectors about this time last year, probably 25,000 miles on it or so. i plan on cleaning the MAF in another day or two after the fresh oil on the filter has hit it. any ideas or anything to check out?

Are you letting it run longer to warm up? I know my mileage has dropped but I have using my remote start alot now also I have a habit of leaving it running everywhere I stop.

I use the PS in the grey bottle most of the year, but switch to the white bottle when it turns cold. The grey bottle is more for lubrication and the white bottle is for helping with the water and icing issues I believe. No problems so far.

i haven't been letting it run to much longer than normal. i have noticed that the tranny seems to have a little more slip till it hits 90 to 100 degrees on the fluid temp. that and im starting to question the fuel filter.

The torque converter won't lock until the transmission reaches around 90 degrees.

been on the web looking for a symptom like this...my truck is doing this rattle now it is unormally cold here in vegas, and i just noticed this a couple of days ago...at idle and up to about 1200rpm my truck is slightly vibrating after that she runs like it always does, and i was a little worried, but it only has been doing this since it has gotten really cold here...i havent been running any additives in my fuel, and i thought maybe some water in the fuel or the motor taking a crap all kinds of stuff, but this sounds very similar to what i am experiencing gonna go pick up a white bottle today and hope it helps...oh btw this would be my first post so newbie...if you guys think it could be anything else please lemme know or pm me

thanks
