: It's contageous!

I've had my dmax only about a year, and love it so much that I've already talked my dad into buying a 2006 D/A w/ LBZ for his work truck. He's thrilled too!

My first job out of college was in engine development for a company that makes big yellow earthmoving equipment. Didn't know jack about engines at the time - my background is all about vibrations and dynamics. Anyways, I caught the diesel bug and don't expect I'll ever be the same.

After our first (of 2) daughter was born, my wife wouldn't let me take the baby in the front seat of my reg-cab F150, so I got to go truck shopping. Long bed & crew cab are only found in 3/4 ton+, which made a diesel an attractive option, so here I am.

My geeky, quirky interests in the truck are mostly focused on one of 2 things:
1) Getting the best fuel economy I can for a 7000 lb truck. So far I've learned a lot and can get 25mpg when the weather cooperates (i.e. not now when it's below freezing).
2) Making the thing last as long as possible. With all the emissions requirements, I know I'll never be able to get a truck like this again, so I want to keep the one I've got at least long enough for my kids to drive it.

Though I hate to admit it, I use the truck mostly as a daily driver and family hauler, and only occasionally use it for what it was intended.

I look forward to poking around and learning a thing or two.
