I just hit over 150k miles and I figured it was time for: Pump Rub Fix...or it would at some point end up costing me some significant coin for a new case half + pump rub fix.
I bought the parts from Kennedy. The kit came with a simple drop in plate, new gasket, tube of silicone for sealling the case up & new seal for the "rear" Drive shaft...?? Geez, I cant remember.!:o:
Tolliwacker has a DIY..but at 0 Degrees/no garage, I had no appetite for lying under my truck for 3-4 hours and so used my good ole local mechanics shop in Barrie - Holly Auto - THANX Al.!!
Anyway..the hardest (longest), part was getting the case out - once out, it was pretty straight forward due to the excellent & detailed description of how to do this mod. Found on the website of Merchant Auto..!!).
Once we got the snap ring figured and the case open, I was pleasantly surprised to see the original clip right where it should be and in pristine condition.!! No sweat, we pulled it out and installed the new plate (just a drop in but with 4 clips instead of 1), held it in place with some axle grease and put er back together. Wire wheeled both mating edges of the cases and did a final clean with brake cleaner. We used a caulk that was combination of urethane & silicone.
If you do this yourself using a DIY... tis a good idea to mark the electrical loom clips with Yellow paint and number them before breaking the case halves apart...or take a couple of really good pics.! ;)

All in all a straightfroward job, and in hind sight, I didnt need to ... but given this truck earns me $$, I'm glad I did it and the cost was pretty reasonable at $265.00 CAD taxes in. Again, I can't say enough about the DIY found on Eric's Website.. just excellent and a huge help for two guys that know "jack" about how to take one of these apart.!! I just wish I could have afforded his pump rub fix..but it was just a bit too much coin for me...sorry Eric .!!:o:
