John marcdeluca 06-06-2005, 06:56 PM I would hook up a mechanical gauge and check it. Could just be a sending unit going bad. There is a plug below the oil filter that you can tap into to check it. Just change oil last night and flushed with amoil engine flush. ver fluctuate very low?[/QUOTE] CStone 06-09-2005, 01:14 PM Lower pressure at idle (typ. 30-40PSI) than when rolling (typ. 60PSI) is normal for the Duramax engine, both from what I've read as well as my own experience. Some ppl who run 5W40 oil report lower idle pressures than 30-40PSI, but I cannot speak to that since our climate doesn't warrant the thinner oil. John I was wondering if your pressure ever fluctuated below 15 lbs or lower. If it doesn't, I wouldn't worry about being you pump. Sounds like your oil pressure sending unit acting up. Might want to try a OEM unit if you pan on replacing it.
