Other than the 6 speed Allison, is GM doing anything at all to keep up with Ford and the Tow Boss option? I am interested in a 3500 to tow a heavy wheel trailer, but so far, all I have seen is the 3.73 rear end offered with the auto tranny. The built-in brake controller would also be nice.

When will the tire pressure monitors be mandatory, 2006 or 2007? I have read that they will be required on any vehicles with a gross weight of 10,000# or less.

For the 2006 trucks, there is going to be the 6 speed allison, and the mirrors are going to look somewhat like fords mirrors. they will still be power-extendable, but they are going to be alot taller. As for the 3.73 rear end, with the duramax the way it is, anything more than 3.73 would be too much.

Famous Booner, how do you mean too much? As I said, I am interested in pulling a heavy 5th wheel trailer and need more capacity than is currently offered. The Ford Tow Boss is leading the pack in trailer hauling, and I was wondering if GM plans to offer anything to compete.

I am VERY satisfied with my 2500 with the Edge-equipped Duramax and would love to be able to stay with the brand, but if nothing is coming out, I guess my mind is made up for me.

 I just subscribed to a digital version of Motor Trend magazine & I noticed an article ( August Issue ) on page 24 called timeline, which said that in early 2007 concerning the Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks.......GM is working on 6.4 and 6.9 liter Duramax diesels for these trucks, making 350 horespower and 675-700 pound-feet of torque, to match the engine planned for Toyota's upcomming heavy-duty Tundra line.

So......it's going get interesting in the next few years. :driver:

My guess would be that the MY06 HD's will not have the options you are looking for. But they damn well better have them in there when the new and improved HD's come out sometime in 07. I fully believe that when the new HD's come out, they will not disappoint!
