I've heard the underdash wiring and connector for a brake control isn't there on a 2003, and was changed in 2004 to be different from the 2001-02 model years.

Is this true? Or was just the locations of wires and pins and such changed?

I assume that if this is true, this means that if I buy a Prodigy controller, I won't be able to just plug it in under the dash and enjoy it. However, if only the pin locations and such have changed, you just need the new version of their wiring harness.

I suppose I should tell pop also, being that he traded in his 2001 6 liter for his 2004 DMAX. If the stuff is different, he's going to need the new version of Tekonsha's harness.

Have a good one!!

Dan,

I just had a Prodigy installed last week by U-Haul. It took them 20 minutes. The under-dash connection is there (mine is a 2003). I didn't have the wiring harness that came with the truck (bought it used) so I had to spend an additional $7.00. I was in and out for under $190.00 and 20 minutes.

By the way, if you want power to the trailer you need to put in the fuse in Stud#1 in the under hood fuse box. Do a search in the trailer forum for info.

I've heard of the fuse. Thanks for the info.

Now my other question. Are the pin locations on GM's wiring harnesses different between years 2001 and 2004?

Have a good one!!

Yes, GM changed between 2002 to 2003 but you can change the location of the pins in the harness. I thought I remembered seeing someone on this forum giving instructions. Might try a search.

The 2003-2004 also changed. My prodigy came with a harness to plug in and play.

Hope this helps.

GM changed the location of the stoplight feed inbetween those years. They swapped the illumination and the brake feed wires from coner to corner. The connector still goes in the same spot

Thanks for the link. I was poking around there earlier and I saw the updated GM harness.
