I have a 99' F350, PSD, and am experiencing tubro flutter. I know they offer different compressor wheels and turbo housings. My question is is there any of you have have done these fixes and did one with out the other work???

I don't know if you have tubro flutter or turbo lag my 2000 f250 psd has some lag and this is normal adjusting the waste gate took care if most of the lag and when I installed my BD programer it helped some more, They say that the Banks Big-Head also helps. As for the wheels and housing upgrades I think I would spend my money on the new ball bearing turbo I have seen its spects. 80 hourses by just turbo change out, not bad.

If what your hearing is right after the upshift and it sounds kinda like one of them old pressure cookers releasing air, you hearing turbo surge, and it will kill your turbo.

You can get a wicked wheel and take care of most of that unless you have modded injectors. You can also get an ATS ported housing to complete it, and eliminate all surge.

Garrett also has a 7.3 PSD turbo, the GTP38 IIRC.

I have a 2003 F-350 7.3l and it will surge only when towing my toybox. I run the superchip programmer in the truck on tow safe and it will surge, you can watch the boost gauge flutter when it surges. i can take the programmer out and no surgeing what are my options. What causes it to happen.

Hi to you all,On my 7.3 (2002) I put a pressure sensor on the X pipe that goes on to the steel adaptors bolted on to each cyclinder head.I noticed that was a pressure fluctuation that created a air flow reversion in the inlet. This would create a pressure wave against the turbo through the intercooler. This would sound like a flutter.Infact reduce the air flow (volume) to the engine. The engine requires a balance pipe between the head that is not in line with the induction tract.

the back pressure that causes turbo flutter. You will also experience
the most significant upgrade you can do to a 7.3. (excluding injectors
and drugs)):h
