I originally installed EGR blank plate and got CEL Light about a week ago. I installed the stick today (All Soldered w/heat shrink). I still have a Check Engine Light. EGR is hooked up and have EGR plate installed. I carefully checked all connections several times all are/seem ok. Should the light go off imediately after installation of the stick on its own or does it take time to clear the error codes and get rid of the CEL light? I read in the threads that Codes will clear after 50 or so ignition cycles but does that apply to the CEL light? Do I need to have them cleared via programmer?
Thanks,

You need a programmer to clear the codes. If you have everything working correctly the light should go out after 5 ignition cycles. You might have an auotparts store in your area that might scan and clear codes for free. We have Autozone here in CA that provides this service.

Ok. I need the programmer to clear the codes. Then after all codes are cleared 5 or so cycles will cause the light to go off. So if I just keep driving without the codes being cleared the Light will never go off? Correct.
Thanks,

I removed all shrinktubing and rechecked all connections. I'm measuring 1.068 volts on the EGR Blue at idle with all hooked up. I think I have a bad one.
Here's a link to two pics of the installation:

No The Lite Will Go Off After 3 Good Trip If The Codes Are No Longer Present. But If It See The Code The Lite Will Stay On

If you cycle the ignition with no more failures the light will go off but the code will stay in the ECM until 50 to 70 ignition cycles without failure (I can't remember the exact number). If you get another failure the light will either stay on if it hasn't turned off or it will come back on if it reset after the 3 ignition cycles mentioned above. If you reset the codes with a scanner it will have to fail twice for the light to come back on.

Bought truck to AutoZone this morning. Had codes P0299, P0401, and P0404. They cleared them and I haven't seen the CEL since. Only one day several trips so far.

Keep us informed. There could be a bad connection either in the harness or on the Stick. As always, you can return the stick for a full refund or replacement, no questions asked.

You won't have any more. Those codes are the ones Finger's stick takes care of. No worries mate!
