2001 D/A...Last month I bought a compact tractor and trailer approx 8000#. on my first uphill climb my truck went into limp mode and would respond to throttle. I took it in and dealer replaced 8 injectors. I had noticed alot of black smoke when I got on it and less power. When I got the truck back I went camping with tent trailer and it did the same thing up a hill. I took it back and they found 1 injector that was putting out too much fuel. I got it back and yesterday and put the tractor/trailer back on and found about a 12% incline. The same thing happened. THe truck went into limp mode (could not go over 2000 RPM) Has anyone heard of this or something similiar. I think the dealer is scratching his head. The truck has 99,300 miles on it...........thx

You need to scan the codes in the computer to tell what is happening but it sounds like it could be a transmission slipping and the ECM is going into a default mode to protect from hurting anything.

The dealer tech scanned codes..." P0093 followed chart #1570885" they called tech support and came up with a fuel imbalance on inj #5 and they changed that one, but it didn't change anything. it still shuts down at 2000 rpm or higher. I hope it is not the transmission. I have never hauled anything more than a tent trailer.

My '01 LB7 did the exact same thing yesterday. Pulling a 4000# Jeep on a carhauler. I'm getting the exact same DTC. I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow morning. Please let me know if you have found out anything since your post. I'll do the same once the dealer check mine. ;)

Also did Duramax cover the repair. Thanks.

My 01 also doe's the same thing but my dealer said there was no fault code, told me to drive ultil it breaks down, I haul a horse trailer. If I shut the truck down it resets something and I can go along for awhile but it will happen again. A friend who is a GM tech said possible fuel rail pressure sensor. He also said not to reset the system limp into a dealer and have it scanned while the problem exsist.

It happened to me again last night and I got it to a shop w/ a scan tool, It read poo93, fuel leak large. I contacted a friend who is a GM tech he said fuel rail pressure sensor or all injectors. He also stated there are at least 5 tech bulletins. on this eng. w/fuel related problems.I contacted my local dealer who stated drive it till it dies and started running the codes by them and they admitted that they didn't fix diesels and bring it elsewere.
