i have a 08 3500 dually crew cab i got the recall about the air bag modual under driver seat and investagated glad i did my entire driverside padding was soaked. the modual was corroted as well. i removed all seats and carpet and padding will call gm tomorrow. i looked and cant see were the water is comming from i know its not from snow like the recall said. we had some flooding and i drove through water about 10" deep but at slow speeds. i dont want to have to take my truck in cause i have a few nondealer frendly mods. if anyone has any ideas on were water is comming from let me know.

My truck just went to the stealer today for some other crap but service guy told me about that recall. They said they would call me tomorrow, I will ask them where it's coming from, they are supposto fix that while it's in there.

From the recall paper I understand it as snow you may track in and melts off you. Thats what i figured it means. If you have it coming in then need to look around window, cab lights, there is a few gromments in the firewall, air conditioner drain plugged up to name just few things to look for.

My carpet was soaked too, but it was coming from the CAB lights on the roof.

That is funny, I had the same in the pass.side of my truck I was running some cable in the truck and saw and felt that it was wet..... I could not ring water out of it but it was damp for sure and I have the "floor liners" in and I rarely have passengers....

My dealer took 30 seconds and just tore out the padding under the seat. He never said anything more than tracking in snow.

I have the same problem in my '05; soaked driver's side floor padding. I've tried to find a leak in the door area, and "fixed" one. But I still got water, especiallr in the threshhold, so I drilled a 1/4" hole in the low spot under the threshhold cover to drain water. It seems to work ok. I'd really like to find the source though.

can water get in through the E brake grommet? When I installed my amp steps the drivers side was damp and the white grommet was not stuck in the hole very good..

Lazy a$$ dealers... yea let's rip the padding out - that will fix the leak problem!!
I had the same problem and INSISTED that they remove and replace all the padding. My truck smelled NASTY after a while.
Ends up my water leak was 2 places.. the 3rd brake light and one of the cab vents that had popped out.

Water can come through the door grommet wire harness. Pop them off and put some 3M sealant on those and put them back in. I had water come through there and soak my passenger side of the truck. I demanded all new carpet and padding for fear of mildew later on and I got it. In the beginning we/they couldn't figure out where the water was coming in. All I know is if I turned a hose on a little bit and put it on the corner of the passenger windshield with the door open, I could see it coming down the side floor area where the passenger's right foot is. I took the plastic side panel off down there and it was filling with water in there. It ended up being that stupid gromet in the door jam.

Just run a hose over your truck and take a light inside and dig around a little bit, sooner or later you should find something. Water CAN hit the top of the headliner and run down without getting wet in some cases. So dont count everthing out. My windshield was leaking on my truck..
