i am going to install an alpine head unit in my truck. the stereo shop says there is no 12v source in the stereo. they said i need to buy a $150 converter to install. why cant i just run a keyed power 12v source to the fuse box? i dont care about the door chime or the steering wheel controls

I don't know if it's like my 07, but I had to buy the converter for the bose stero system and the xm/onstar deal.

i have bose and onstar but i dont use the onstar anyways and hate hearing it when i accidentaly hit the button

Pull the onstar fuse under the hood......Will take care of that

i got an 01 just bought the connector to connect to factory harness like 15 bucks nothing else needed
