Yesterday it was 93 degrees here and on flat ground. I was towing a 9,000 lb gooseneck trailer, in tow/haul mode down the interstate going 73 mph with the AC on high. I have an Edge juice and it was set on level 1. I watched the temperature(on the dash and on the edge) climb up until it settled at 232. This seemed warmer than it should be to me. When I am not pulling it usually stays areound 200. Is this normal or what should I check?

My truck is stock and I've pulled alot more weight than 9000lbs and the temp as never gone higher than 205.

Look at my sig.

I have towed in over 100 weather and not gone above 200.

Looking forward to putting in the "Mike L Special", when I get to LA.

I hit 220 once while going up a 7% grade not in tow/haul mode. Temp was about 90 deg. Now I always use tow/haul mode and never see temps beyond 205. My trailer is about 6k to 6.5k depending on how full it is.

Ok, I get the idea. Thanks for the replies. It is running hot as no one else is running that high. I looked at my radiator and it is not that bad, but I am going to spray it out anyway. Anything else to check? I have not had the truck very long, but it has never done this before. I have towed with it alot with no problems, and even after it getting hot, I drove it about 200 miles with no trailer and it did fine.

Do hear your fan kick in? You probably never hear it empty. When you hit grades, you should hear it under these conditions. It sounds like a deep loud fan.

Dittos. The clutch fan should have kicked in before it reached those temps. I'll bet it isn't working, it probably would have scared you if it had, because it is really loud.

Did not hear the fan. I will check it out next time I have a load. Broke the rear U joint and dropped and bent the driveline today so truck is out of commision at the moment. Thanks for the advice.

Check the fan clutch. Mine kicks in at 203 degrees. I have hit 216 per the attitude.
