Are there going to be any driveline changes in 07.Like a solid front axel maybe. How about the 6spd will it still be avaliable? Any other extreme changes?

The 07 PU is still under major wraps at this time. Patience...

I would be compelled to look for a fully indepentant suspension all around instead of a solid axle, even thought that would be way cool. There is already a few mules out with the IRS, and i beleive there is a picture on this site somewhere.

IRS would suck-:t ! Then I would have to solid axel swap both ends to make a work truck. I was hoping for a real work truck again after 20 years of not having one.If that's the case I'll have to keep rebuilding the old solid axel k30's for work trucks.

I heard rumors from someone who writes service manuals and TSB's for GM that supposedly 360+hp is on tap. Who knows how accurate that is.

I hope like hell they increase the front axle weight from 4620 to something on the order of 5500 or so for the crew cab trucks.....That would be nice for us plowers....

I second that opinion! Just don't know how far we can increase an IFS setup over where it is today...

There are an awful lot of H1 Hummers out there.

I know IRS may work for some but I pull 15k-20k lbs regularly and the fact it's a ranch truck.CV shafts also aren't very strong when compared to the current AAM 11.5" rear end. I've heard of two lines of trucks, that's why I asked about a solid axel one.I have seen the IFS/IRS prototype,it's just a light duty truck with a lot of plastic.-:tMay just have to go to a 4500 4x4 if they go to IRS.

HMMWV is a good example of a IRS that is pretty beefy and has significant usage. Can't say I've ever seen a 15000# gooseneck behind one but it is a 1 1/4 ton truck that has held up pretty well.

Rockin.....not picking a fight here. My buddy has a shop and does "all" of the H1 repair work for a certain company. They break stuff like you would not believe and they don't even pull a big trailer. I might be able to get some pics. Give me 7 to 10 days and I'll see what I can capture.

That makes sense! A solid axle is a very simple strong design and bullet proof if built right. IFS, IRS...fancy and MUST break much easier by design...

Spreading the load it does not, absorbing it does. The ride is better with the IFS. However, if you want something stronger... try Big-E-Low.

That's why they build the ******ing IFS because they want a nice ride.I want a work truck. They should build 2 lines if they want to satisfy everyone.1 with solid axels for those of us that work our trucks and a smooth riding city truck-:t .

Couldn't have said it any better myself, GM should at least offer a solid front as an option in the HD and 1 ton trucks. I know I would be willing to pay the x-tra "jack" for the upgrade. Just imagine the lift kits that would follow shortly after if they did offer a solid axle.

I think that if they offered a HD with an optional IFS or SFA they could make that solid axle standard and most would not order the IFS.

I would venture to guess that most would choose solid over IFS if given the choice when ordering a new truck. Any guess as to how much weight a solid axle would add?

I would think IFS and SFA would be very close to the same weight.

SFA would be fine with me as long as it had leaf springs and not coil springs.

Brayden

coils would be nicer than leafs.. That's one reason why the dodges pull so well. The four link front just digs, not much bouncing going on.

A four linked SFA chevy duramax would definately be a nice truck..

I always thought coils where better, now lets get off this SFA BS I think it has been beat to death enough for this thread, but if you what one so *****ing bad go buy a Cummapart.

I don't care weather it's leaf or coil,I just want a SFA under my trucks.A Dana 60 weighs 550lbs.I bet the ifs is close to that with all the brackets and crap.DOZERBOY:I also wheel'.IFS doesn't flex like leafs or coils,so it sucks for that too.

Jazman, 42 doesn't work with the numbers, the bean counters.

How many of you have actually had problems with IFS? I'm sure that a few have, but not nearly as many as complain about it.

It kills me how so many people complain about IFS because it is the "cool thing to do."

Besides, if you want a solid axle so bad, buy a Ford or Dodge. Buying a GM and complaining about IFS is like buying a Chevy and complaining that it has a gold bowtie on the front.

Chevy used to have a real axel under the front.Pre 87.Furd's suck-:t ,thats why we don't buy them:rolleyes: .Now we simply need a SFA truck to do certian things.I know a lot of guys that ran Chevy's untill 88'{IFS},then went to Furd-:t .Chevy would get a lot of return buyers if they would offer it again.Any of you ranchers or farmers should understand what I'm talking about.IFS just doesn't offer enough clearance and durability for our feeding trucks. Some have made due with them because they won't own a Furd or Dodge, others have been converted:eek: !! I will stick with a OBS pre 91 3500 with a SFA for feeding trucks unless they go back to a SFA. I mean even Furd saw their mistake with the IFS TTB they had under their 80-98 F250's and 80-85 F350's and went back with a SFA.

I lived on a farmed with livestock, off road, and done construction since I could reach the pedals and swing a hammer I know the value of SFA. However, driving up to 1K a week I know the value of IFS if GM put SFA back in there trucks great if they go to an IF&RS who cares if it can to the work and IFS can. Its all about knowing the limits of your truck and buying a truck that fits you needs weather it be a Mighty Max or a KW.

I second what Duckhunter said some people just have issues with change.
