: Power Tow Mirror Question
Bob the Builder 06-05-2005, 07:50 AM Does anyone know the part number for the power extending tow mirrors for an 03 Chevy? I have the regual power-folding mirrors now and really need the power extending ones. Also do you know where I can buy a set from?
bluenote 06-05-2005, 09:12 AM You already posted this in another forum area, but here goes again....

kbstinky 06-05-2005, 07:11 PM Get them from Power Vision............
Super people to work with.
Had a small problem, they took care of it immediately, even tho it was well out of warranty.
gwmayes 06-05-2005, 07:15 PM I have the OEM Power Vision towing mirrors but have seen the ones made by CIPA and think they may be better? Definately more glass. Maybe less expensive, too? I saw 'em at our not-so-cheap trailer supply house here and they were asking $350/pair
McRat 06-05-2005, 07:17 PM We might be sell a set of OEM power mirrors if you are interested.
boondokr 06-06-2005, 10:34 AM I am also shopping for a set of towing mirrors. I want a set that extends, but keeps the power controls for the glass. Every website I check will tell you how far they extend, but none tell you how wide the mirrors stick out from the door. Could somebody chime in with a measurement through the open windows from tip to extended tip of how wide these mirrors are on the Duramax. Thanks.
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rant.gif BTW: only Dodge makes a QUAD cab, and it doesn't matter which way the back door swings.
Bob the Builder 06-06-2005, 12:26 PM boondokr, I have always used quad cab to describe 4 door trucks (excluding extended cabs) Quad = 4. Quad and Crew Cab mean the same thing in my eyes but to each their own.
Thanks for all of the help about the mirrors, I don't know if I want to change the OEM style of mirror to an aftermarket look is my problem. I like the look of stock mirrors. Hate the price but like the look, plus I want all of the same functions. Power extending, folding, with turn signals, auto dimming and so forth.
boondokr 06-06-2005, 12:36 PM Bob,
Sorry about the rant, but I get sick of used car salesmen that have no idea what they have trying to confuse the rest of us. I would also like to change mirrors, but I don't want to end up like my dad. He has the factory manual camper mirrors on his 01 Dmax and uses a CIPA universal extension mirror on those to see the boat behind the 5er. I am leaning towards the CIPA replacement power mirrors (manual extend), but want to make sure they are wide enough. You would think that with millions of posts in various sites, that you could find that one little detail you want to know.
kbstinky 06-06-2005, 02:39 PM The problem with most "hang on" type is that they are to small.
I wanted a big mirror, and went with the Power Vision.
They extend just a bit more when retracted, but are sure nice when fully extended out.
I also retained the full control as OEM, and the heated mirror still works just fine.
My .02
My dad has CIPA on his dodge. Nice mirror, but looks like elephant ears.
I had TTT mirrors on my previous '04 gasser. REALLY NICE MIRROR. Loved the huge blind spot mirror and could see really well. I'll be putting a manual set of these on my new (to me) '03 D/A dually.
The TTT website shows their measurements. Not sure that I have seen the CIPA measurements on a website yet. There was an old thread on this board that talked about CIPAs, TTT's and the stockers. Some folks actually measured their trucks with mirrors (extended and retracted). Can't seem to find it now. If I find it, I'll post a link.
katahdin 06-06-2005, 04:50 PM Even with the OEM extended mirrors on my 04 I cannot see behind my 30ft 5th wheel to see a boat. Basically I can see someone coming up on me.
boondokr 06-08-2005, 10:56 AM Here are the measurements I have been able to find so far:
OEM manual extending mirrors 94" to 101"
OEM power extending (PowerVision) extend to 103.5"
VisionView (FURD style) 102" to 109"
Schefenacker TTT extend to 108"
Disclaimer: All measurements were taken by somebody else. All mirrors were mounted on Duramax equipped trucks.
sprintmod1 06-08-2005, 04:56 PM Guys, the TTT's are the way to go.
Somewhere about 6+ months ago, I did the research on the width of the mirrors. I don't have the time now to look or search but maybe if you search with my name you might find the info. I know it's there, somewhere!
Someone PM The Monkey, he might be selling his power extending mirrors if someone is interested. I saw that in another thread somewhere here in the last day or two.
