I race cars all the time but not my truck, I use it to pull my cars to the track. Nothing against it I just can't afford to tear it up. I also drive it to work everyday.
My question is... we have this guy at work that is about 4' tall and thinks he's bullet proof (you know the type). He just bought a two or three year old PSD 4X4 and he went online somewhere and a guy told him how to put together something he called a "clamp", a bunch of diodes and resistors put together now he says it is faster. He keeps wanting to race me and I am getting tired of listening to his ****. Should I hold out until I get my OJ or should I not even bother then? There will be money involved and if I succeed it will shut up all these PSD owners. Next up will be the Cummins guys.

LWB, extended cab, short box. Not a dually.

Buy a Predator. Bet him $400 on the race. You've paid for your Predator.
Only run it on 85HP to avoid limping the trans.
Launch in 4x4 HI with the truck stalled to about 2100.
Don't tell him you "tuned" the truck. It's invisible.

You would most likely beat him stock but don't take the chance. If you do as McRat suggests, run it in 85 hp to the speed limiter a few times before you race to make sure it won't limp it. Even in the 40hp tune you would likely spank him.
http://superdutydiesel.com/wiki/index.php?The%2010K%20Mod That is likely the mod he did and I'm quite sure he still wouldn't beat your stock Duramax.

Just tell the guy to f off. You're using your truck for hauling your cars. Exactly what it is designed for. They are made to haul or pull stuff and fortunately have some creature comforts incorporated.

With just that resistor mod, your stock Dmax will vaporize him.
But never assume someone who wants to race you is describing their mods accurately.

I already did that... Sure will be nice to shut him up the other way.
I've never even been in one of these diesels with any mods. I can't wait. My 01 that I traded in had 80,000 on it and never had a minutes trouble out of it. It was bone stock too. All my money goes into making the cars go down the track.
No one around these parts are doing this to the diesels, I haven't seen the first diesel go down our track.
:offtopic: If anyone want's to push their products around here I have two race cars that hit the track every weekend. Maybe we can work out a trade.
Sorry if I spoiled the thread.
I'll keep ya'll posted on "Yosemite":D

You had better find out what he has....7.3 or 6.0L
Your going to get spanked if you show up with just the Predator and find out he is running an SCT tune.

The resistor mod is an old trick for the 7.3L. It ranges on each model usually 40-60 hp. Some have claimed more, but your stock Dmax should woop him unless he is a regular cab that is considerably lighter than yours.
