: Problem with FASS System?

I recently installed the FASS System on my truck. I am now noticing when the fuel gauge is at 1/4 tank or below I get the low idle surge and white smoke when the truck is in gear. I had the computer reflashed before any mods. were done due to the fact of the same problem but it happened all the time. The reflash seemed to clear it up. My question si would the FASS System be starving the engine of fuel? I took a mechanic from a local dealer for a ride and he said it feels like its dropping a cylinder. Any ideas of what this may be?

Thanks to all who reply!

Dan ,We have noticed with the newer trucks that below a 1/4 or right at the fass will suck the pickup dry .Mark

Do a search on Fass or Air dog pumps, plenty of reading material.

Basically the pump is sucking the sending unit dry.

Don't run the tank below the point that it's causing you problem's now OR run a seperate switch for the pump so you can turn it OFF and then you can still keep driving. The pump is a flow thru design so you can do that. I would not do it any longer than you have to though.

Hey thanks for the info. guys, I kind of thought it was the system. Ill make sure not to let it drop below 1/4 tank from now on.

Hey Mark, Just to let you know everything went on just fine and running great besides this issue. Thanks again for your help.

Install a switch and when she starts getting low on fuel, turn off the
Fass. After a fill up turn it back on.
This way you can use your tanks entire capacity. :D
