Well I changed tunes. From ppe to efi live and mileage went from 11 on the dic to 19 that's a gain of 9 mpg !!!!

Only if it was true

I still try to tell my self it has to be right. Lol

I have found my DIC is within 1MPG of my hand calc city/hwy mix with me being good on the right pedal and within .5MPG if all hwy..............................If im playing (esp now I have DSP5 switch) I've seen it off as far as 5MPG.

*I KNOW I KNOW......I HAVE AN 06 LBZ*

Hey is the EFI very difficult to figure out what your doing. I know its supposed to be the best for the duramax and my truck has already has been tuned with it. I have a friend who is wanting to sell me his EFI Live. He is who I bought my truck from so he already has the vin license for my truck. I just dont know if it will be above my skill level. I'd hate to screw anything up.

If your efi live retarted like me. Your Gonna have to buy tunes from Nick or trade for them

it takes alot of practice to make good tunes

like hours and hours if your new

although it's fun to try and make people that don't know what efi live is think your really smart by opening up tables and showing them all the charts and acting like I have a clue to what I'm doing

To be honest........Its not all that bad.
The best thing it to have a hands on learnin session with someone.....If you have an EFI class thats near you I would suggest hitting up one. The typical learning curve for EFI is a year........(so they say, if you stay ontop of it and learn, learn, learn,) I've had it for longer than that and am just now starting to get the hang of building tunes pretty easily. I've tuned half donzen or so trucks now with great success and have built, combined, transformed, edited over 100 or so tunes. I still have ALOT to learn but it takes time invested to know what your doing.
That said EFI is without a doubt the best investment i've made not only for my truck but for knowledge as well.

Yeah I'm in the same boat you are then. My friend that has it bought it from Nick and he is gonna let me have like 5 or 6 tunes on a disc with the EFI that he's already purchased from Nick as well. I am probably going to but it I just know that you need to know what the hell your doing before you go very in depth with it.

I would say my biggest help asside from the hands on session when I first bought EFI, is the comparison tool. I used that to help me learn what each table did. For hours upon hours i've used the comparison tool to compare one tune to a stock tune. See what the changes were and understand what they meant. I have probally 200 screen shots saved and printed off b/c it was easier for me to see them layed out vs trying to see each little change here and there. Now im to the point I can build a solid tune (smoothing everything out too) in just a couple hours (I could do it much quicker, but I am very OCD and too detailed when I do things.....lol)
Basic build tune with no big smoothing in 20min. But I like smoothing tables out b/c you would be amazed at how CHOPPY some of the factory tables from GM are.
