I have a 2005 lly with 10000 miles, while driving I'm getting a surge and white smoke and when I shut it off it has a real hard time starting and one hell of a knock. Took it to dealer showed the 401, 404 code which I knew it would because I have the egr blocker plate in. The dealer said the balance rates were way off 2 were in the -2 to 2 range the others as high as 8 they reflashed it and could not get it any better, said it was the latest flash. I tried to start it at dealer and still had one heck of a time starting like it was flooded gasser. I brought it home to take out the egr plate and will reflash again Mon. Will taking out the egr blocker do anything for the reflash. I had a predator installed on 65 since 2000 miles. Installed stock tune before I took to dealer.

Sounds like you might be needing some new injectors.

I conquer with 05 2500HD. You should take the blocker plate out when getting dealer service done. +8 rates are in excess of the +/- 4 at idle and +/- 6 under load at idle that GM specs.

Update: When I picked up truck from dealer I had one heck of time trying to start just cranked and cranked finally started but when i gave it gas it wouldn't even rev up till it was warmed up. I drove it and barely made it home (just 2 miles from dealer). Removed the blocker plate and hooked up the predator and erased the egr codes and went for a spin it seem to run fine at higher rpms but would stumble when i came to a stop. Now this morning really hard time starting again and would not rev up till warm. What gives.

Thanks: Scheduled reflash for monday morning but I can't see how that will solve the problem.

I haven't posted much because I 've no problems till now. Anyway injector balances are 14, 4, 8, 10, 8, 8, 14, can a reflash correct this or do I need some new injectors. Thanks for the replys and the views.

Sounds like the injectors are junk, might want to try another dealer. That sucks if they can't diagnose it with those kind of #'s and funky sounds I KNOW your engine is making.

Hell if I can figure you need new injectors than the dealer certainly should. I'm a complete dumb A** when it comes to these trucks. Your dealer just sounds like they don't want to deal with it. Either go up the GM ladder or find another dealer. I'd probably try another dealer if it were me.
