: Chrome H2's and 265 /70-R17 Load E
02blkss 06-03-2005, 07:59 PM I finally got my tires mounted on the H2's today. I decided to go with something that would not require any torsion bar changes or a lift. They may look a little small to the hard core but I was able to minimize any torque loss and keep the load E rating.:)
02blkss 06-03-2005, 08:16 PM Pic's
TheMonkey 06-03-2005, 08:45 PM functionally, i think that was a good move. nicely done.
do you have a pic that shows somewhat of an angle? i'm wondering how the sidewall profile looks.
02blkss 06-03-2005, 09:35 PM Here is a quick shot down the side.
TheMonkey 06-03-2005, 09:43 PM thanks... looks good. i am considering something similar. nice pair.
h8nopi 06-04-2005, 12:52 AM doesn't look like there's to much room left in the front looks good!!! think I'll go a little bigger tho):h
Peregrine808 06-04-2005, 06:03 PM i'm jealous
TheBac 06-04-2005, 06:40 PM Looks good! What about 285/60/17's? That would be wide, but shorter..if that makes any sense. I saw some Toyo tires in that size today.
Also, it looks like a new GTO next to your truck. How do you like that car?

Diesel Power 06-04-2005, 09:06 PM looks good!
did anyone ever find out the weight rating on those wheels? i've always been curious..
noreaster 06-04-2005, 09:13 PM LT265/70R17 7.0-8.0-8.5 31.6 10.6 3195 658
size rim height width weight rating revs per mile
Terrain Twister 06-04-2005, 09:14 PM DP, They'd have to at least be 3195 to match the tires they came with. You know the general wouldn't do anything less and open himself up for a lawsuit.
noreaster 06-04-2005, 09:15 PM sorry that kinda compacted from how I typed them

gross axle ratings on h2 are 4000 and 5000 front n back. they could have wheels rated at 2500# and say that any weight over that was beyond spec.
who knows what the wheels are rated at. i remember a dp member that actually contacted the wheel maker (alcoa us?) and they wouldn't speak up. so.... it seemed that the general has taken a route of secrecy.
considering though.... how much those wheels weigh.... i'd say you can load em up pretty good.
TheBac 06-04-2005, 11:11 PM tom... those sound like tires that i was trying to find in my other thread... where'd ya see 'em?
saw them on a 1500 (of all things) sitting in a left turn lane next to me today.
ON EDIT: Found the specs on them.
Toyo Proxes 285/60R17 114V 242230 8.0-8.5-10.0 42 11 30.4 11.5 13.7 2601 44 683
Notice the weight rating.....that in itself screws the deal.

I went with the 265's because of the E load rateing. That limited my choices to 4 or 5 tires. I also wanted a little more aggresive tread than the stockers which seemed to limit my choice to the Toyo AT's or the BFG Rugged Trail's.
Yes, it is a 04 GTO. I have removed the torque management with HP Tuners, added a Lingenfelter CAI with dynatech stainless headers and high flow cats. It puts a :) on my face every day as it's my daily driver.

They are over 2500#/ wheel.
After the abuse Tomac puts them through I don't know if u can break them.
TEXMudder 06-06-2005, 11:00 AM Although I cant decipher all the numbers stamped on the back there was one post here stating that DOT required that all wheels be stamped with a weight rating. If this is the case then one of the numbers on the back of the wheel must be the rating. Agian if this is the case the only number that makes sense is something over 3000. I dont recall the acutal number, but its the only number that looks like it could be it.
CarNut 08-24-2005, 01:07 PM I have been thinking of doing similar. Did you have to use spacers or any mods w/ 265's on H2 wheels?

direct bolt on since GM supplies Hummer the parts.
