: GM Prices 6/1 - 7/5
mrmagu 06-03-2005, 06:45 PM With GM selling all vehicles at Employee discount, that suggests to me that the new pricing still leaves a dealer profit close to previous. There should be additional negotiating space available below the listed Employee discount price.....
There must be a new dealer invoice price on these vehicles.
famousbooner 06-05-2005, 03:37 PM Hey just a little response to your post. I sell Chevrolets at a dealership in utah and there are no new invoices and the profit to the dealership is very minimal. If you go into a dealership and try to negotiate this price, the salesman and manager will just laugh at you. They will even show you the GMS price on the invoice. This is by far the easiest way to by a vehicle. On most new Diesels, the discount is $10K or more. If you feel you have to negotiate more from 10 grand, you probably dont need a new truck that bad anyways. The only way that dealers are making more money off this new deal is by under-allowing on trades. So watch out for that. But aside from trades, the vehicles are priced to sell! Enjoy your shopping!
mrmagu 06-05-2005, 06:44 PM No complaints with new pricing, but cant blame me for trying....thanks for the heads up on trade-in, try not to do that anyway...
LBZrcks 06-07-2005, 12:32 PM My buddy said that he can give like an additional $500-700 off.
famousbooner 06-07-2005, 12:49 PM He might be able to if he dips into holdback. Which is money that the dealership is supposed to make on deals where there is no profit left whatsoever. Most dealerships never even consider this though. So your buddy must have it in good with the sales manager or something.
tmoenste 06-07-2005, 01:10 PM Keep one thing in mind regarding negotiating price on a GMS deal from a dealer's perspective. The only way to get paid the memo money is to sell the vehicle for exactly the GMS price shown on the invoice. Any deviation from this price in either direction (according to the rules), and the dealer doesn't get his memo money. Of course, a dealer could break the rules and lie about the sale price to GM, but the risk involved in doing that would make it a stupid decision just to get one sale.
For those who don't know, memo money is the extra money paid to the dealer by GM on GMS deals to make up for the low sale price. Remember that the GMS price is approximately equal to the dealer's "net-net" cost on the vehicle, meaning that the holdback and advertising charges have already been taken out.
The memo amount is equal to 5% of (MSRP - Destination), less $75. Without that money, the dealer is losing his ass with a sale price at or below GMS.
There is an exception to the rule. Demo vehicles with more than 2500 miles are allowed to be sold below GMS price and the dealer still gets the memo money on a GMS deal.

funtoy 06-08-2005, 03:02 PM Looks like lot of dealers are losing their ass.
The big dealerships about all new.
Lots full of new vehicles.
I bought mine on 4th of September for less
money than it would be now on the good deal.
rich1520 06-08-2005, 03:09 PM I visited several dealers before buying (searching the inventory). All of them showed me the invoice and none of them offered to go any lower (not that I asked, just kind of used to it as I'm trying to leave the lot).
Thanks for the explanations.
My truck: 45K MSRP, 40K invoice, 37.4K GMS, 34.5 with rebate, plus tax and title. No trade, I knew they wouldn't give me anything for an old Dodge, LOL.
Flight_RT 06-08-2005, 07:00 PM Is the memo money in addition to dealer holdback? Any help would be appreciated. I am looking at a Tahoe for the wife. One local dealer is offering a 10 yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty with all new chevy's. MSRP 49,090 GMS 41,266 - 3000 rebate= 38,266.
Flight_RT 06-08-2005, 07:04 PM Disregard, the answer was in the post from Tony.

there is no reason not to work for the best price you can get.
i just called a local dealer and they started out saying the same thing as you. "the rebates and employe pricing make the price a set value and they have no room to drop." they have a cc dmax listed at 44K and with all the discounts that got it to ~$34,500.
after talking for no more than 10 minutes OVER THE PHONE. he told me they could cut back a check for $500 to me bring the price down to $34k. he quoted a ext cab 4wd dmax auto LS to me for $32,300 and indicated that there might be a little more room to drop if i would come in and look at it. i bet if i hit all the dealers i could get that ext cab for $30k even.
WYOMAX 06-09-2005, 10:36 PM So what could I get for the truck in my sig with 56000 miles on it? And can I still use my GM card cash at the end of the deal. I took a new one out a coupel months ago. they offerd me 30 for it then. I didnt take the deal then because mine still rides and runs better than a knew one. but with the deal they are offering now I could maybe live with starting over with a new one. THANKS JEFF!!!!!!

he is the fleet man, when I go to buy something for him, I tell him what I want, he calls me when he has it if, if he had to trade, and all I do is go and sign a contract. guess that is why he is like salesman #155 or something of all gm sales people.
jeepj10jim 06-17-2005, 11:44 AM Does the rebate get applied above the GMS price? I am looking at a 05 3500 dmax/ally LT 4x4, list 49, GMS 38. If I get the rebate as well the price is 35. Need to know soon, want to purchase today if that is the case. I have found the truck I want with all options including colors and it's 150 miles away. Ready to go pick it up for 35K!!!!
Thanks,
Jim
redneck45 06-17-2005, 12:39 PM Yes, you get the rebate also. This whole Employee pricing for everyone is a joke. I do not work for GM, but do get a suppliers discount, and I was able to get employee price and the rebates last year on my dmax and the wifes trailblazer! And the rebates were higher last year! Wait alittle while longer, like September, the rebates will be better!
