Ok I have searched this but would like to confirm my problem as searching has got me going too many different directions. I recently blew my head gasket and luckily got it replaced under warrenty, actually 5000kms before it was up. Now they had to leave my blocker plate out when they put her back together. I haven't put it back in yet. Lately and only 7000kms after the fix, which I know is unrelated, I have been getting intermittent smoking issues. As I accelerate it will smoke like a whore and as long as you keep your foot in it it will clear up then go like a bat outta hell. Getting a p0101 I beleive as a code saying a mass air flow sensor problem. Is my fix as simple as cleaning my filter good and the sensor? Also the mechanic told me it would be a good idea to leave the blocker plate out for a bit as leaving it blocked could cause heat issues. He also cleaned the snot out of my motor so not too worried about leaving it unblocked for a bit. So should I put the blocker plate back in or see if its the sensor first? I'm concerned that having It blocked for over 60000kms then all of a sudden unblocking it may have ****ked it. Sorry for the confusing post but any help would be appreciated. Oh and I coulda swore I seen sparks out the back tonight thru the black smoke but hopein its just my eyes playin tricks on me

I would start with the intake tubing. Since they had it apart to replace the head gaskets, it is not unheard of for the tubing between the turbo and the intercooler or the intercooler and the intake manifold to push the rubber boots off. 7,000 kms after a rebuild would lead me in the direction of post turbo tubing issues. Easy fix. Deep drive socket and a bottle of rubbing alcohol.

Put the blocker back in.

K I put a brand new AFE filter on and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. Still smokeing intermittently. Now I'm thinking maybe my FPRV is done and causeing fueling issues. Oh and the sparks I thought I saw was just my tailights reflecting off snow.lol. Still got to try blocking it and if thats not it I will replace FPRV as I still get an 1621 every once and a while. Oh and I'm still getting the P0101 after cleaning mass air flow sensor and installing new filter. Also checked all intercooler connections that I could get at and all seemed good
