All info up to date in my sig'...

The SES popped on the other day. I turned on my Kiwi and my Rev2 software on my iPhone and saw a P1218 code.

I searched the great resources here and found a thread related to this issue but I think my situation may warrant a new thread.

I replaced the factory PMD with a remote kit a few months ago. This is a new PMD bonded to a heat sink and has a #9 resistor with it. The harness was long enough to mount the kit in the "snout" opening next to the front license plate.

I have noticed no irregularities in the operation of the vehicle. All seems normal.

I understand this code appears to some after so many start-up/heat cycles of the engine when there is no resistor present.

I would assume that if a resistor is bad this would also be the case?

If so, hopefully I can find the old PMD and resistor and swap in the old resistor to test. I left the old PMD mounted where it was, can the old resistor be extracted easily from this (I don't remember how it's positioned)?

Any other ideas?

Should I just clear the code to see if it comes back?

Will it come back regardless if I don't do a key-on-key-off reset cycle?

I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks!!!

Any suggestions?

Simply clear the code and see what happens?

or

Should I try the K-O K-O reset?

Pushing this back up... hoping to get some suggestions.

I cleared the code and it started up without a code... for one start. The very next start the code returned. I was away from it over the holiday so I'll pull the remote PMD and see if there are any issues with the resistor.

Well, it's been a while but I purchased a #9 resistor and opened up my remotely mounted unit and was a bit shocked at what I saw.

The old resistor was completely corroded! It looked like an alkaline battery leaked all over the place in there.

I managed to get it out and then using a micro file I cleaned the pins in there as best I could.

I then installed the new resistor and reset the SES w/ my iPhone using Rev2 and a Kiwi WIFI unit.

All is well now.

(except a noisy vacuum pump)
