Hi all, I'm new to this site; just joined today actually. I recently acquired a 1985 Diesel Isuzu Pup pickup to drive instead of my gas guzzling 1997 2 Door Tahoe. Since I've gotten this little pup truck, I really want to convert my tahoe to diesel. I understand that this would be a complicated conversion, but my tahoe currently has 140K+ miles on both the engine and the tranny, so I wouldn't mind spending the money to make my tahoe a vehicle that would give me theoretically twice the engine life than that of the current 5.7 gas engine. Currently, the truck is 4 wheel drive with the stock transmission and engine. I want to keep the 4-wheel drive, if possible, but I also want to change the automatic transmission to a standard shift, which I'm guessing would give me a little more flexibility as far as mixing and matching engines and transmissions. Ideally, I wouldn't want to go with the older 6.2 or 6.5 Chevy diesel engines because I hear they wear out in about the same amount of time as a Chevrolet gasoline engine. But, please, correct me if I'm wrong. Like I've said, I know this would be complicated, so I'm not really expecting anyone to give me a step by step conversion. So, basically I'm just wondering if this idea is even feasible, and if so, maybe a few pointers on how to achieve this would be great. Thanks a lot guys!:grd: ? :badidea: ? :)
