this weekend i installed a 4" front pipe on my truck to get rid of the kitty cat when i started it up i got a D.T.C. on my edge juice attitude module of the p0402 excessive egr flow detected, i was expecting it because my truck is a cali emission equipped but i just cleared it once and it hasn't come back for 4 days now no C.E.L. on the dash or D.T.C. on the programmer. whats the deal here shouldn't it keep coming back until i block the code somehow? or is it just stored in the ecm? thanks for the info in advance. Tom

any thoughts on this?

You will likely get one that says egr insufficient flow due to the lower back pressure from the free flowing exhaust. With an Edge, there is nothing you can do except get an egr sensor fooler from someone. I don't even know who sells them.

Or throw your edge in the bush and buy EFI and turn the codes off for EGR.

A finger stick will solve that problem. Got mine from Kennedy Diesel.

Several tuners will block the codes also such as the PPE Xcelerator Line of hand held tuners.

Finger stick does NOT help P0402s. P0401 and P0404 only.

Excessive flow can come from a leak in the intake track OR even a bad EGR valve.

What would you do with a bad egr valve? block it?

I would block it regardless.

I'm really surprised he got the 402. When I installed my 4" exhaust, I got the 401 due to less back pressure.

I got that on my truck which has no mods to it at all, after I got it back from getting some service done (i hate dealerships!!!!!!!!!). The intake tube piping was not put back on very well and I reinstalled it, making sure the clamps were positioned properly etc. Never came on again, and I used to get it once a month.

I got that code every 200 miles before I cut the cat and it has not returned since then. I have put on about 3000 miles since I castrated that cat and it is running great.

X2...the fingerstick does address the excessive flow code (P0402). I'm not sure why people still think or claim it solves all of the EGR code problems.

Wishful thinking maybe? :D

I think so...ah, I just noticed I have a typo in my last post. It should be "doesn't" address the excessive flow code. It's too bad that people still unknowingly continue to tell others that it solves all of the code issues.
