: LBZ best tuner, no stacking or trans rebuild
hood72 11-22-2009, 04:33 AM Well i have a 07 lbz and and wanting just the simple answer for whats the best tuner for a lbz. i know spees is money and in the end how fast do you want to go determines how much you will spend , but i am talking about maxing the engine out without blowing the tranny and also being able to clear codes and possible controlling the egr.,
Thanks Lance
Tanc Crusher 11-22-2009, 09:59 AM Edge Evo and PPE I say. Lets put it this way anything over stock will shorten the life of the drivetrain. I you search and read the many post on this they seem to average no more than 70 or 90 HP over stock. And even at that you do not want to be doing WOT wide open throttle in the 4th to 6th gears. Plus no WOT in up and down shift in those gears. Both clear codes but unsure how either do on showing the TCM codes. TCM is the transmission control module which the Allison uses. As for EGR control it is more likely the options are on or off if that is what your asking. If needing more control then EFILive is the only option.

marksrt43 11-22-2009, 11:43 AM PPE is the best, can run up to level 4 without need for trans rebuild.
Horsehaulin 11-22-2009, 11:51 AM Any added HP can and likely will toast a trans, but a TransGo JR will help it last a little longer. As for a tuner, Banks is always transmission safe. PPE Hot + 2 E.T. will give you the power you need for now and in the future when you get a built trans. EFI Live will geive more versatility due to the fact that there is no limit on the tuning posibillities. You and your truck are the only limit. But putting in too big a tune will ofcourse roast a trans!
LWATSON 11-22-2009, 11:59 AM Get a PPE standard or EFI. If you do build your tranny in the future either of these will give you massive power. The PPE standard can be upgraded later to a HOT + 2ET if you need it.

PPE is the best, can run up to level 4 without need for trans rebuild.
How much power are you looking at with the PPE on level 4? And is that the standard ?
LWATSON 11-22-2009, 06:40 PM level 4 is the standard and your probably looking at 430-450 RWHP.
Horsehaulin 11-22-2009, 06:44 PM A 5spd trans will not hold the power that a 6spd will. Allison revised the trans in 06 making it about 20% stronger than the 05 and earlier. Be very careful during the 4-5 shift!
dmaxalliTech 11-22-2009, 07:04 PM Dont rule out the Edge CTS or Evolution. Diablo Predator will work well also.
When it comes right down to it, they are all good, but some offer features that make it more appealing to certain users.
Look at staying 100 hp or less on a stock trans. You can likely push it more, but its a risk.
Semi-crazy 11-23-2009, 04:31 PM What all the others have said...
I picked up a used Predator for my truck off Ebay for 100 bucks shipped...couldn't help myself for that price.
06 LILLY 11-23-2009, 04:39 PM I had a Predator for my truck it's a good tuner, I liked mine.
DuramaxPrime 11-23-2009, 04:39 PM PPE standard on leve 1 or 2. Works amazing, can Block the EGR and Remove the CAT, and the tuner takes care of the codes with the tune loaded automatically, drivability is top notch. Very safe tuner.
Combine with PPE airbox mod (free) and muffler delete (cheap) and PPE EGR blocker plate (Free from some venders with tuner purchase) for awesome power/drivability/milage.
Wesley Dueck 11-25-2009, 12:56 PM 32k miles on PPE lvl 4. Tranny seems to hold up fine so far
