For 2006 GM is putting the Duramax in their vans to address the commerical guys. Why would we care .... well that means more LLY's out there AND they are placing a 4L85E tranny behind it. Yes, this is a weaker tranny, but for those who would want to take a Duramax out of a big heavy truck and slap it into a smaller chassis (sleeper race car), you could now use a smaller and lighter weight tranny, which would fit under floor pan a little easier... I know that there are guys making 4L80E trannys work behind huge turbocharged gas enignes so I am guessing that the 4L85E's could also be made to live behind a D'max.

Don't know about anyone else, but slipping a D'max into an old G body would make for one sweeeeet sleeper. Heck if we juice up a 7000 pound truck to run 12's or 13's, imagine what would happen if we lost about 3000 pounds :)

One thing to note is they are detuning the DMAX to put in the vans. If you can get a 4L80E and a TC to hold the 700+hp and 1000+lbft tq then you'll have someting for sure.

The Van engines will be detuned and wont offer the same output levels that we are used to now. I imagine the aftermarket can help with that some, but if you thought it was tuff getting an Ally to hold big power.....
