As everyone knows ive been ranting about my burned up injectors for sometime now. I took it to the a dealer, they said that not only did I have 4 bad injectors they also said that something was wrong with the injection pump. They also gave me a free oil change, and new dual pleate fuel filter. Drove my truck 1200 miles this week to New England. Got 25 mpg. Used the Fuel reciepts and a little math to figure it out, i didnt believe that little guage. Im happy, the banks will go back in soon and everything will be good.

Thanks GM for all the cool new stuff:muahaha:

Holy mileage batman! 25mpg? Are you sure you didn't lose a fuel receipt or two? Did the dealer start you off with a full tank that didn't get factored in?

No, I was sure to count every reciept. You do the math, I drove EXACTLY 1200 miles. I used 48 gallons of #2. The Truck was unloaded and I was cruising at about 70-75. I counted for exactly 1200 miles to see what my max was capable of. While I was on the highway I got talking to a guy in a 3500 dually and he said that he was getting 22 MPG. The hilarious thing is that my truck got 13mpg tops, 25 now. WOW this is amazing, especially because diesel in new england is almost 2.50 a gallon.

25mpg? Ahem.....

If you accounted for the fuel, then you are understating the miles driven. Is your odometer still accurate with tire changes?

Something sure seems amiss.

I have a small radar gun for my son to see how fast he can pitch (baseball player), when i drive by those things the cops put on the side of the road to tell speed, i always set my cruise control, my speedo and the cop thing always match. Also, ive had my wife hold up the radar gun to see if my guage was accurate. I couldnt believe the mileage myself. but 48 gallons of diesel for 1200 miles = 25 mpg. After 1200 miles i stopped counting. Keep in mind this is Highway mileage. By the way my wife was behind me, its a 1200 mile trip. Her audi is totally stock, both odo's read 1200 miles.

My 2002 GMC Duramax 2500HD Sierra experienced injector failure while being used as a tow vehicle. I did not notice the situation until I stopped the vehicle to discover diesel fuel dripping from all parts of the chassis, towed trailer covered with diesel fuel, and oil pressure below the last mark. Dealer found crankcase filled completely full of diesel fuel.

Engine was operated for more than one hour as a tow vehicle with severe dilution of 15W-40 weight motor oil by diesel fuel.

Dealer replaced all 8 injectors under warranty. Since replacement, lower operating level oil pressure, and diesel fuel leaking from under the engine.

Personal master mechanic indicated possibility of potential damage to rod and main bearings, and seals resulting in reduced engine life and degraded reliability. Also, chassis & tires saturated w/ diesel which probably will result in damage to rubber & rust proofing.

This vehicle previously experienced injector pump failure.

Would like an experienced mechanic to discuss potential permanent damage to engine and future reliability.

Mine did the same thing, the fuel pump let go. With the oil getting mixed with the diesel, I think it causes the oil to break down or not provide the lubrication that it should.

yeah, i know how you guys feel it sucks. If the trucks still under warranty. Enough b!tching will get you what you want. As for the diesel in the oil i imagine its probably bad for bearings, seals, and piston rings. If you have diesel in your oil dont drive your truck.
