careful when you go jumpin it :D them axle tubes like to bend lol.

But when you get your fenders on you may wanna either drop the ride hieght or put bigger tires on. When i did mine the 37s ift perfect with my lift but then i put the fenders on and man did they look small. I was plannin on droppin my lift anyhow to get my CV angle better for wheelin.

Also, you may wanna really look into what all is involved in doin rear fiberglass and how wide they will be. To make the bedsides work there is alot more invovled then the fronts. I personally say to jsut pull the bedside on the stock bed and will give you the look you want and be jsut as clean. Plus you can make them as wide as you like (well to a givin point, would bo beyond 3" bulge).

Glad to see another dmaxer on the same page as i

I doubt this thing will see any major jumping at all since it not caged on the inside.. I do plan on putting a full cage inside then going in more balls out on the suspension on day lol...

Ive been a auto body tech for almost 6 years now, Ive done all sorts of bedsides replacements Im sure I can figure out something liek a fender and a glass bedside... I was thinking rear glass might be to wide for my truck so I was thinking of pulling the sides to lik eyou have mentioned. Since I dont wanna run any spacers more then liekly that will be the way I go for the rear...

oh well hell, in that case dont listen to me! lol haha you ought to be good to go then but yeah i really think that the bedside would be too wide. Even ones up front may be too wide but im not sure how far your tires stick out. Cant wait to see this thing rollin down the road though!

Well I got about 3.5 hours in on this thing workin on it today...

Got one of the axle bracket cut off and re welded, And ripped the entire front end off the frame... Maybe sending to powdercoat if I got enough cash. Tomorrow I get my rod ends for my traction bars, So I think we will be wokring on those tomorrow...

New Bracket...

Added a couple extra gussets to the insides for alittle more strenght....

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e322/down4bmx/11-23-09006.jpg

Axle is gone ready to tear the links off..

Links are gone awaiting possible powdercoat :)
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e322/down4bmx/11-23-09007.jpg

Im thinking apart ripping the front cross memeber off and thorugh a 2" tubed cross member in there to clean her up...Its the cross member that holds most the skid plate... Ditch that big ol ugly thing... Then New Coilover Hoops and I think front will be done until I get driveline setp...

Your truck is coming along nice!

D-nAsTy-MaX
11-24-2009, 11:35 PM
Nice work so for front you reinforced the p.p. axle mounts maybe replacin front crossmember with tubed unit and new tube coilover mounts powdercoat n new coilovers? Tryin to make it stronger and good appearance?

Is it possible to do a front setup like kore has for dodges that can be desert raced and jumped?

down4bmx
11-24-2009, 11:40 PM
Yeh I reinforced it some I bent my first bracket going through some whoops at like 50 mph! hahha So I re inforced and now it getting strapped. To much down travel. Yep you got all that right... Coilovers might be on hold now I got some other plans too ahhaa we wil have to see, but its coming along!

fordh8r
11-24-2009, 11:43 PM
im going to be adding gussets to the front axle also. are you replacing rod ends for the front axle?

down4bmx
11-24-2009, 11:46 PM
I havent had a problem with mine. So Im going to keep them.. They are still in great condition... I have always kept them pubricated all the time...

D-nAsTy-MaX
11-25-2009, 01:38 AM
im trying to figure out what the closest to what kore does on dodges would be four our truck, p.p. kit reinforced? xxxtraction kit like choppermans build?

either way i wanna sit around 8" up front on probly 37 toyo mt's and fiberglass fenders and bedsides, maybe just pulled bedsides maybe glass, love the kore built dodges looking for that setup but duramax

down4bmx
11-25-2009, 09:46 AM
Your going for the same look at me then hahhaah

D-nAsTy-MaX
11-25-2009, 10:32 AM
haha yep kinda am actually i guess, good taste, do you think the p.p. kit with reinforced axle mounts, and trussed aam, new upper coilover hoops and reinforced trac bar mount running 3.5" 14" travel dual rate reservoir coilovers rather than the 10" and the puerperformance ram steering is closest to kore's front setup on their dodges their racing?? and 6" deavers in the rear with 2.5" triple bypass 14" travel shocks and tractionbars like you designing! do yal think that is closest to the kore setup and can take the beating kores givin theirs even jumping??

also will it sit kinda low on 37's like kores dodges do if its set at bout 8" up front and 6" deavers rear yet still at that height be gettin the most outt its suspension?

sorry for all the questions but thanks yal are very helpful

But damn your truck looks good!

Well Got my Front Skid Plate Tabs welded on to my new crossmember and everything is complete on the front end now! Sent all my front end parts to powdercoat Late this evening should have em back tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow, I gotta prime the frame in the morning sand then shoot some semi gloss black on frame then tape and do hoops red... Let dry then put the front end all back together!!!!

Then itll be time to finish the rear!

Dang If I charged you by the hour F*** be a shit load Ill prolly have like 6-9 hours alone in doing the bars, Still have to make the mounts for front and back, they are going to set on a Shackle setup so I can still use my travel. Coilover hoops took a long as time too! Tubed crossmember was a peice of cake hahaha...

Ill see what I can do for a price, Let me see, PM Me and remind me!

I saved all my measurements and angles on my buddies tube bender program and on a peice of paper, saved all my templates too! hahah

Got all my front end parts back from Powder Today! Whoot! They look sick! Red with a clear on top... Im going to way on the axle to get powdertcoated. Im going to be doing a red/black theme on the truck so Axle will be powder coated Black with red accents also. front and back... leafs are going Black/Red every other one... I think this will look tight with the black rims.... Im not a fan of being flashy, Everyone around here done color and chrome so Im thoguth Color and Black would be sick. Plus the axle will look super clean after it powdered with a clear on it....

I got my Frame Primed today and my Coilover Hoops Painted red to match Powdercoat peices, they are welded to the frame so I painted them. Next I gotta finish painted the frame Black and Put all the front end back together tomorrow! Whoot might be rolling tomorrow

I wish I could do some custom p/c but out here in colorado the mag chloride on the roads in the winter kills everything cool, already need two new rear chrome fox's and they arent even a year old!

Well It seemed like I got a shit load done... Im loving how everything came out so far except one thing... I spray the frame semi gloss black well its way to damn glossy for me so, IM gong to redo the frame to more of a flat black to match the axle better... I think it will look way better...

But, an in all its looking good.

To Do list for the front still:

Powdercoat Calipers and Rotors Red
teardown Axle in a few months and get it all done in Flat Black PowderCoat

Driveshaft and SYE KIt is next after this is all done... I havent wheeled it in the mountains or anything but I have ran it hard in the dunes through some whoops and handled great. Except one minor thing, I didnt have my front end straped and it pulled my trac bar bracket on the axle over hahahhaa hint the reason for building all kinds of new stuff might as weell... But overall it performs well and i plan to get back on it and take it to the dunes again in feburary and see how she does... Ill let you know... This time it will be strapped...
