Anybody having any problems on their 05's? Dad just bought one, wanted to know if there was anything to look out for. Truck is "Crew Cab" 4x4 short bed with Cummins/5spd tranny.

The automatics are 4 speeds and the 5 speed standard was only available with the SO motors in model years '03 and '04. The crew cab is also not coming till '06, I do not think you can even order one yet.
As far as problems with the '05 CTD, mostly bad mileage and white smoke is about all I have heard, there are TSBs to fix both.

Crew cab is the same as quad cab.. The mega cab is the new configuration from dodge for 06... I took delivery of my 05 today and drove it for a while.. I haven't filled it up yet, though the most my mileage guage has read was in the 12's.. I thought those things usually read high?? I won't know what's going on until I can check it by hand..

My o4.5 was in the 12's for quite a while. I was getting pretty discouraged to say the least. After the re-flash is helped and once it is finally starting to get broken in (18,000)miles I am getting in the 17's all of the time with mixed highway and in town driving.

I hope this helps. Mileage will improve over time otherwise the only thing I have heard of is a plastic intercooler that may be an issue if you modify things to greatly increase boost pressure. Maybe someday I will know exactly what that means and how it all works.

Actually it is not a crew cab it is a quad cab and it is built on the same wheelbase as GM and Ford's extended cab.

BD Powered. My 04.5 has only been in the shop once with the 18-037-04 TSB to help mileage and white smoke and have the 'cab' door seals replaced. Otherwise things are fine with mileage increasing as the truck gets broken in.

I haven't had any major problems so far...just the re-flash (for fuel mileage - no white smoke) and I had a problem with the ground wire on the drivers' rear door speaker. Otherwise, change oil/filter, add fuel and drive it!!

Cool, sounds good. Is that reflash for the 05's too?

No, reflash was only for a group of trucks in a specific serial range that were 2004's. 2005's do not need it.
