Even though the instrument cluster and odometer is different on an 03?
Or would i need to track that down as well?

No, they are not the same. The electrical is totally different. It would be too much work unless you want a real project. You need to get an 01-02 engine.

Hate to disagree but I just put a complete 03 lb7 in my 02 wiring and all

maxdout did you have to replace the instrumet cluster too? or were you able to just drop it in no problem?

i can get the engine for $1500 cdn and it has about 165000km on it so its probably worth it whether i can just drop it in or not cause itll have most of the same parts...

Wiring is different, the one thing I remember is the oil psi sending unit.

So if i were to track down an 03 inst. cluster it would go in really easy? or is there more to the wiring then just sending info between the engine and the gauges??

why do you need to change the cluster to put the engine in?

the cluster on the 03 is different it tells you your mpg. oil life, range etc...different pnrd and odometer setup

You can't put an 03+ cluster in any 01-02 truck. The motor will be fine just a few different connectors and sensors.

I put the oil sender off of my 02 otherwise it is an 03 engine. runs like a charm. and no you don't need to change cluster. Randy
