: Turbo noise!!!

Already did some searching and came up short, but today the Yukon started to make a noise coming from the turbo. Now I know this is unrelated but on Sunday I drove to a friends heated garage and replaced the Idler arm, Pitman arm, Idler arm bracket and one of the inner tie rods. The trip there and a quick trip around town after the parts were replaced the truck sounded fine. Today I get the alignment done and I am driving it home. (15 mile trip). The turbo still can be heard when accelerating (which is cool) and when you let off no big deal. Today though, when you let off the throttle, the turbo almost sounds like there is a blow off valve attached and the excess boost in now venting to the atmosphere instead of internally. It sounds good but I am not sure this should be happening. Just want to know if anyone else has had the same issue or what I may need to check.

Thanks.

When you get on the throttle and drive then let off suddenly your wastegate will open and release exhaust pressure. That is probably what you hear during that.

The turbo noise may just be the normal turbo whistle. Depending on what intake you have and if you have a bigger/opened up exhaust you may have more whistle the a stock 6.5.

But from what you have explained, everything sounds normal to be... I'm sure others will chime in soon though.

^Thanks

Just stock exhaust and the japanese style CAI on it. Only other change is the weather. It is only 40 degrees here today. I want the exhaust now but the wife wants new stereo and tint on the front windows first.

Well tell the wife that she wont need a stereo once you get the new exhaust! :D

I'd check all the connections on the turbo both intake and exhaust. If it just started and didn't do it before something has changed.
