got bored the other day, bumped the bully dog to 90hp turned on tow haul. didnt get down on it very hard but slowing down i smelled the tranny. turned tow haul off and didnt smell it any more. next time i stopped i dropped the tune back to 50hp. fluid and both filters were changed about 7,000 miles ago. havent smelled it since i dropped the tune back down. this has never happened even the few times i went to 150hp but when i did that i didnt turn towhaul on. tranny has never limped. any ideas? tranny is stock.

Is anything wet?Crawl under and look up at the sheet metal above the transmission towards the rear.Perhaps it just vented some.Mines been coated a few times, cheap rustproofing except it eats the frame waxy stuff

Needless to say it will not hold the 150 tune for long.

Are you sure it wasn't just something burning off of the exhuast?
You may have run much higher EGT than normal, and burned off the junk
on the pipes. If I don't run mine hard for a while, and then give it hell,
the exhaust system smells for a bit as the tar and stuff burns off.
Same thing with my old 6.2.

bumped my predator up to 125 yesterday and the same thing happened to me... theres a few drops that hit the rear diff. but i also spilled a hair when topping it off earlier that day...so i dont know if my spots are from my spill (most likely and I hope so) or if it blew a little out.

i never looked under the truck to see if there was any fluid. as far as egt's go id only gone less than a mile when it happened. like i said that was the 90 tune, it wont hold the 150 at all so i dont use it. havent smelled anything since im guessing you guys are right when slowing down with tow haul on it may have puked some.
