Does anyone know the torque for the nut on an IHI turbo that holds the compressor wheel on?

Thanks

Call Fleece Performance at 765 676 5063 or talk to Mark at Danville Performance 317 745 8585. Either one outta get you squared away.

I called Danville Performance and talked to someone there. They didn't have an exact number, but I feel I understand what they want. I won't call Fleece. They were supposed to send me a replacement compressor wheel for this turbo and I never saw it. Wouldn't take my calls or answer my emails after the initial contact. Got tired of waiting and went somewhere else.

I'd feel better with an actual number for torque. I don't want to tighten it too tight and then with the thermal expansion from the exhaust heat, pinch the bearing.

Thanks

If you want that number Id call regardless, and let them know how you feel! I guarantee you Jeff could answer your question, beings hes the one that puts most of them together. Further more I understand why you would be upset, there are no good excuses, but the shop was closed practically the past two weeks due to construction; I mean dead phones and dead computers. Otherwise call Danville back, insist on talking to Matt on the counter, and have him ask Mark Broviak, or just insist on talking to him yourself!

I ended up calling back Danville Performance. Can't remember the guy I talked to, but he was very helpful. Said it was 20 ft-lbs. He also answered quite a few other questions. If he's on here, thanks again.

So armed with the torque, I positioned myself on top of the engine to torque the nut only to realize that my torque wrench doesn't torque in reverse.... Oh well. At least with 20 ft-lbs, I had an idea of how tight to make the nut.

Thanks guys.

just buy a beam style, its cheap and will get you farily close with out spending a ton of money. Good for a couple of uses once and a great while.

blksmkjnky - You have a nice looking truck and I like the name. There's just something about reg cab pickups that I still like. I can remember back when extended cabs were the "caddilac" of pickups because they have an extra bench seat. Never mind there was very little leg room and no third door at that time. I had countless reg cab pickups and always loved them. That being said, it is nice to be able to haul 5 people...with everyone in the cab :)

Sorry about that Chris. We dropped the ball there. The shutdown really made things difficult around the shop for a couple weeks.
