I've decided on my money spending spree in January I'm gonna go with either an Aurora 3k or 4k single setup. How much rear wheel horsepower will these turbos support?

3000 will do about 550 and 4000 will probably handle around 650 or so. That would probably be maxing them out I would say. I loved my 4000 too. It was an AWESOME street charger.

I am by no means a turbo expert but I do alot of reading on here and from what I gather the aurora turbo's are quite expensive and dont do anything that is far superior to other brands. If thats what you want then imo go big or go home and get the 4000 but I would do some reading and searching and maybe save a few dollars along the way. Also, the 4000 is not great for towing so take that into consideration.

Why do you say that?

I am currently running an Aurora 4000. Spool up time may be a fraction of a second longer than the stock turbo, but you will never know it. I can also out accelerate any other regular vehicle from a stop while towing a trailer with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds (I can’t quite keep up with a corvette when loaded). I have also driven through the mountains of Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia grossing 20,000 pounds and it was a blast. If you do get an Aurora turbo get the 4000 you will not be disappointed.

certainly not an expert but you have some good review for the aurora here. i would keep that in mind and also check out cheetah, mpi etc and review all your options before making a decision. let us know what you decide.

There are lots of questions to be answered before we can figure out which turbo is best for your needs. Consider the 3000 as a stock replacement. The 5000 is a performance turbo and the 4000 is in-between. You will probably like the 4000 just fine unless you are looking for a racing turbo and are willing to give up street manors and towing friendliness. Another option is to upgrade the turbo you have and keep the benefits of the variable vain configuration. Danville is having great results along with others in that area.

How would the BD Supermax compare to the a3k and a4k?

I think I've decided I'm just gonna bite the bullet and go with MPI twins

Good choice.

The BD SuperMax is a S300 turbo and is good to around 550rwhp. I would go with either a Garret Powermax Stage 2 turbo if you want to keep it VVT or a Borg Warner S400 either 2.6 or 2.8. A well tuned S400-2.8 will perform just fine on the street, but may smoke a little hauling a trailer, but will kick butt when the pedal hits the floor. :D

I run a upgraded VVT and like the ability to tune it and the performance .

You certainly cant go wrong with twins though .... no ? about that .
