thanks again for all the help I have another oil question. How much is the Delvac 1300 super? What is the total cost of doing the oil change myself? Just wondering what the stealer is charging all you to do the oil change and maintenance. I don't know if I want them to touch my truck again. The detail was enough I had to come home and do it again.

I bought a gallon of Delvac 1300 Super for around $9.50 at Advance Auto the other day. Wally World is probably cheaper

blmcam,
Since you're in Ohio, you probably have a Meijer store close to you. Most of them carry Delvac 1300 Super in 2 1/2 gallon jugs (just right for your Duramax) for ~$17. I think Wal-Mart has it for under $7 in gallon containers. Oil filters are ~$8-11, so a DIY oil change is under $30. Don't use a Fram oil filter.
There was a thread awhile back about somebody being charged $69.xx for an oil change at a dealership, but I think that's more than average. I've always done my own, so I'm not sure.
What part of Ohio are you from?

My first couple of changes cost me $62.00+ and that was from Bob Sumural. You guys in Ohio should know the name. I don't need as much oil as you guys do in the Dmax's so I do my own changes now for under $20.00. That's either using Rotella that I buy by the case at Sam's Club for $37.00+ a case for 6 gallons(that's 3 changes for me), plus a filter.
I doubt either of you are from Southern Ohio since I can't find anyone on here that is local.

Hey Mark,
I'm a new duramax owner...just bought a 05 2500 extended cab lly/allison 4x4 3 weeks ago. I just now got over a 1000 miles on it. I get my first oil change free I think from the dealership (Terry Lee)...probably take it into them ~3000 miles. I live in Northern KY (Independence) and work in Mason. My sister is a assistant manager at a bob sumeral store in ft. wright.

Costco sells Chevron Delo 400, an excellent conventional oil for diesels. Last time I checked, it was just over $37 for a case, which consists of 6, 1 gallon jugs.
Walmart sell Mobil 1 Truck and SUV in 5 qt jugs for 20 bucks a jug. This is a great syn. oil for diesels.
