Since i owned my truck when i had the edge j/a, i limped my tranny three times. The last time was over two years ago and the edge was on level 3 and i was in it hard when it happened. After that I drove with it on no higher than level 2 and it did fine until the chip went south so i took it off. I just ordered efi live and am looking at driving with about a 50hp tune. Will that be safe for my trans until january when i get a built one? Like i said the last limp was over two years ago and it was with the edge chip on level 3 and it never did it on 2 when i drove after that.

all depends on your right foot. there are guys that have run a 500rhwp tune on a stock trans for 100K and have not noticed any problems. there are also some like myself that have limped an allison on a small tune (like 65 horse tune) multiple times. if you are real nice to it then you shouldnt have a problem making it that long on a 50hp tune. however, with 3 limps there is bound to be some clutch glazing etc. and it will be much easier to limp. built trans then make big power.

if your getting it rebuilt in jan then ya definatly! theres guys who have limped them like 20 times before...but yea 50hp you should be fine...i limped mine twice on the 135 quad, and its been 5 months since the last limp, and ive been runnin it pretty hard still on the 135...no problems.

I think you should be ok. If your really worried, be easy on the 4-5, 5-4 shifts.
