Several months ago I was forced to get an 05 D/A 4x4 when my 03 was totaled by a red light runner. I'm noticing that when in slow traffic 1st-3rd gear and I take my foot off the pedal and then give it some gas to accelerate the RPMs go up ro about 1300 and then the converter locks up hard. Almost feels like play in the drivetrain. Its very annoying and I find myself feathering the throttle to avoid it. My dealer says its totally normal and others have complained I just can't believe GM would put something like this out. My 03 never did this nor has any other truck Ive owned. I'm thinking of test driving another 05 but I was hoping to get some feedback here before I do it?
Thanks in Advance!

Check the fluid level in the transmission. Change spin on filter. See if that helps. If it does not, you might be calling MikeL

All were done. Its been doing this since day one. I was told by two different dealers that its normal. My job keeps me very busy so getting to another dealer to test another 05 isn't easy. Iam really curious is this sounds familiar to any other 05 D/A owners?

The TC should not lock in 1st gear. If it does something is wrong.

Wel-ll, would have responded sooner but mine is an 02 and wasn't certain if my experience would be relevant. Same symtoms and the dealer replaced the valvebody. The first dealership talked the same trash as you've experienced. Look for another dealer. Works fine now ~ your results may vary

First there is no converter lock in lower gears unless your in Tow Haul and never in first gear.In non Tow haul converter lock happens only on overdrive.
Second it doesn't sound right that when coasting then re accelerating that your getting drive train slope feel. The only way to properly diagnose since you haven't gotten any codes is to continue to visit your selling dealer or go elsewhere for satisfaction.
You may have to climb up the ladder at GM,as get a regional rep in,see the back of your owners manual for more information on customer satisfaction.
Good luck

Cliffee, it would help if you filled out a signature. Are you running any kind of programmer? Larger tires? This kind of information will assist those that can help out.
My '04 LB7 sometimes exhibits the same characteristics, but not always.

Well Guys, I went this morning and drove another 05 D/A 4x4 on my dealers lot. I'm happy to report it did EXACTLY the same thing. I guess it really is a characteristic of the newer trucks. Sad but true!:(
Thanks For the help!!!
