Tirerack has the BFG KDW Ultra Performance street tires on special for $129 on the 285/60-18 size. This is about 1" taller than the stockers. And they have a 3086lb weight rating as well as a 149mph speed rating.

I'll let you know how they fit.

I can tell you right now not very good, your 16 inch rim will fall right through!:muahaha:

So what 18 inch rim are you looking at?

What's price diff. on a set of those compared to Toyo Proxes?

McRat

DOH!!! I put them on 18"x9.5" Eagle Alloys 101's. Rim is wider than it should be by about 1". Funny, 285's fit on 9.5" rims perfect on the Vette.

Rim needs more offset as well.

ARRGGHH!!!

What puzzles me is those street tires look small. They aren't. They are 285's that are just under 32" tall. They rub. The same size as the monster slicks.

Wow 8 wheels and 8 tires... That's a lot of money just dropped on that truck... Looks good though. I thought about getting that style wheels...

They just look small due to excessive rim and not enough tire. If you had some 35s on 18s it would look more in perspective.

Hopefully u choose 4 of the same

It'd look real funny w/ a slick on the back on one side and the front on the other ):h

Looks good when is the drop going on and what did you decide on?

I'm going to try the DJM 3/5 drop. Might have to rethink it though.

Are you considering all these mods on Casper "testing" so you can write it off on the business? :muahaha:

Or will you have to put the biz name somewhere on the truck first?

hard to understand why they rub (just reading about it)... they are under 32" tall, but the h2 takeoffs (35" ?) barely rub on mine. what is it? obviously tire height is not the only bug to be squashed. rim offset? rim width? tire width? torsion bars?

i'm trying to figure this out, because i'd like to drop my t-bars back down and have new tire dimensions similar to this, but on 17" h2 rims. thx.

These rims have 4 5/8" backspace, which is a slight positive offset. Factory rims (and H2's) are negative offset.

So the outside corner of the tires swings a wider arc.

If I were to do it again, I'd look for a 8.5 wide rim with -25mm offset.

thanks.

those look like great tires, but they just don't have anything for 17" rims.

any clue how they would do in the snow?

They do make 17"s but they are for cars.

Snow? My guess is from useless to dangerous. They do have more tread than I expected, I was looking for something closer to a roadrace tire. The KDW's for Corvettes are about $250ea, and have a more dry weather orientation.

Scroll down on the tire rack link, "snow=N/A"
thanks.

doh, thanks. i'm tire confused. i'd love to find a tire that can fit my 17"x8.5" rim that is about 31" tall, but wider than standard 265, that is year round, rated for a load, and that i can start fooling around at the 1/4.

starting to feel like the lottery.

Kat

Well I think I found of use for them... I am going to run them on Big Blue at the track I think they will be sticker then the ones I'm currently running :grd:

Oh MikeL I hope you have a trans brace in stock:eek: You know how hard I'm on rears ):h

If you are 4WD, nearly any tire will work for the 1/4mi.

If you are two wheel drive, tires that work in snow are going to suck at dragracing.

Pat, those look great. I was thinking about that exact same combination (equally insane minds must think alike) and was wondering why you think the rims are too wide. Too wide for what?

Well somehow 4 of the same size ended up on Big Blue :p:

I will post pic's tomorrow. But, since not only do they look better on Big Blue he handles much better with them. So Casper will just have to get another set  because I'm not giving these back ):h
