Noticed a strange sound today while driving on a bumpy road. Sounded like metal against metal. After looking at the truck, we found one of the bushings between one leaf springs was gone, allowing the leaf spring to hit against the other. Any one else had this problem?
We carry weight all the time, but not overloaded. Any suggestions?

Pretty common problem. My truck has one missing right now. I believe one of the vendors on here had some better ones available for pretty cheap. Can't remember who it was though.

Would this missing bushing cause a clanking sound when going over bumps? This is what we hear on the passenger side which is also the side where the bushing is missing. Thanks for your input!!

Check with dealer. Had same problem on my old '01. They have some rubber caps that fit over the spring end. Easy install. Takes care of problem.

Does any one have the part number (s) for the cap ends to help L.TIK out. They are far better than the rubber donuts. I was also hunting for a photo from a past post....but no luck.

Don't have part number for spring cap and some dealers may not be familiar with them. I just raised enough hell and one guy at dealer had heard of them, did some research with the parts guys and they were in two days later.

I put the heavy rubber cap ends on my 2002. Quite nice, but not cheap...

If you are still under warranty (3 yr-36Kmiles) the spring caps should be a freeby.

Yep, had the same noise on my '01. went to sears and bought four 2" to 1.5" rubber reducers(in the pvc pipe dept} slide'm up over the helper spring(very nice fit) now I'm all stealthy... did you hear that? No, cause it was me and $1.89 spring silencers....):h
