Why not follow a good thing, so I kind of used the CSutton method Chris's are probably more road worthy as the bar that exstends and the loops are hanging on is round vise mine being square.

All I know is they meet the DHRA rule requirments 6" loops and I chose the 1/4" steel over the 3/8" aluminum.

Looks very slick. Job well done!

I will admit I'm a bit perplexed by the complexity of the hoop requirement as compared to the NHRA requirement. Usually dropping a driveshaft at 40mph is not all that dangerous as compared to other things that might go wrong. NHRA requires you mount a brace at the front of the shaft so it cannot dig into the ground. Dropping the rear of the shaft zings the motor and throws bearing parts a couple of feet. It's not spinning that fast.

While they are probably a good thing they look like a pain.

I thought you only need 3 loops- front, middle & back.

Maybe because he has a 2 piece drive shaft.

I didn't notice that, but add another one for the middle, still has 3 in between all the other ones.

From the looks of it the longer rear shaft does only have a front, middle, and back loops. Then there is one on the short shaft (the u-joints shields kind of act as a front and rear loop on that because it's so short), and then 3 U-joint shields one at the t-case u-joint, one at the pinion u-joint, and one at the carrier bearing u-joints. From what I understand what he did (as far as loops are concerned) is the minimum (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Saaaweet. Where do I order? :) I'm surprised no one is making this for sale yet ...just about the only mod one can't buy these days.

Thanks guy's, I do have one 2" loop that is above what is required. the rules say 6" wide loops at all universal joints and one mid way on the shaft on my rear drive line I added two 2" loops as it didn't specify any size for the middle one or limit as to how many. I just thought the two narrower ones looked better plus it adds up to only 4" for both, so I save two inches of wieht :)

We can use 1/4 steel or 3/8" aluminum I chose the steel as its a little easier and quicker to work with.
