Needing it I don't know. You need to install V8 public beta also and update the firmware and maybe bootblock. I am pretty sure the firmware is needed to do DSP to LBZ but not 100% sure. Only reason i say that is they changed the way the memory is used on the flashscan. Benefit doing this is once you format the config folder on the flashscan and the sdcard as well directly from the flashscan you get somethings automatically done. Now when you use the ScanAndTune app from the V8 and just do the basic default options.txt that it installs and you write it to the flashscan it also creates the files needed to read codes and and have some info on the codes. Plus makes a nice simply logger once setup for the PIDs to look at and check them anytime.

One still use V7 till they complete V8 which will be the future of the EFILive software. It seems to allow them to do things outside the box than before.

As per the instructions for LBZ DSP Public beta files, you need to update both V7 and V8 software AND then install the zip files containing the DSP release.

Instructions can be found here http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=12030
