Just completed a I-10 and I-8 trip from Tallahasse, Fl to Yuma, AZ and ran a check on fuel mileage between the DIC and manual. Ran 70 to 73 mph with 2200 lb. load, no tow. DIC calculated 18.3 mpg. Hand calculation was 17.6 mpg. Pretty big variance. Guess the DIC is for bragging and the hand stuff you keep private.

Hell that's a lot closer than the typical 3 mpg I see DIC to hand calculated):h

MY DIC is anywhere from 1mpg to .5 mpg more than actual.

It could be said that I drive my truck to get good fuel mileage and I do. Now my DIC nearly always shows .3mpg more than hand calculated and on my last trip of about 350 miles I averaged 21.7 mpg (hand calculated) . If I had not made a couple of short cold starts while at my destination it would have been a solid 22. The truck has about 6000 miles on it. I think that's fantastic fuel mileage http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rockon.gif for something this heavy.

Real men don't use their "DIC" to calculate mpg's! ):h

Quad A in the house. Personally I always use the "Proposed DP MPG Calculation Method" to calculate mpg's. :exactly: It's the "anal" way! Bye now! JJ :)

With stock pcm, my dic reading was consistantly .5 higher than actual. With the predator, I am at 5mpg higher on the DIC. Feels great until I get the calculator out!

Started out in Portland OR and drove home to Murrieta Ca with the new rig. Never left the DIC on view, just cycled through the menu to figure out all what was available. It read 15.4 and climbed to 17.1 3800 mi later. Now its my daily driver so I take it the same path to work everyday 29.9 mi oneway. Did'nt know you could reset it untill I asked someone how to reset the oil life indicator and thought wow if holding this button on the stearing will ressets the oil life I wonder if it will reset the fuel average. So I tried it on my way home from work the other day and was going down hill. It was funny watching the first few downhill samples reading 29 MPG. Anyway its been about 4 days now and it reads 19.1 so I guess she is breaking in alittle and refreshing it has taken out of the equation the first 3800 miles of the poor breakin milage. I will hand calulate it now and see how far off the DIC is.
