I got one more question, this '83 jimmy this guy has for 325 bucks that he ran with no oil in it. Is this a good deal to buy it and fix or should I pass on it? Or should I buy it and scrap it out and make some $ to buy a better rig? I would like to know your thougts on this, thanks a million.

What kind of shape is the body in? That would be the deal maker/breaker at this point I would think.

I didnt see it but he said a little rust But other then the engine everything was fine. Down the road a guy has a old grain truck that sat for 30 years and i would like to buy it and fix it up with a 6.2 so i thought maybe buy it and a rebuild and sell the rest for parts.

well, if its only the engine you want, do as suggested before, and just look for a military surplus/take out engine....There are a couple of ebay sellers that have them consitantly.
