Duramax was designed by Isuzu.

No, Detroit Diesel doesn't make the Duramax. I don't think Detroit makes anything new anymore. I think DC is going to kill DD. It is funny that Duramax Diesel is short for DD like Detroit Diesel is short for DD too!D

Hi,

I guess we will have to wait and see if DC kills DD. If you goto Detroit Diesel.com they list all the diesels offered by them ( MBE included!! ) Maybe after they milk the useful technology out of them, who knows eh?

Take care,

Will

The Duramax is manufactured in Moraine, Ohio.

Duramax was designed by Isuzu.

I may have this all wrong, but I thought it was a jointly developed motor? (GM/Isuzu)

If you look at the Isuzu engine line up (at least back when the dmax came out), they didn't have anything remotely like the dmax in their offerings (no aluminum heads, etc.).

Please do correct me if I'm wrong here...:)

Sorry your explanation is more accurate then mine. GM definitely would have had input on it.
