: how to get nice rumble
diesel_power666 11-06-2009, 06:27 PM I was wondering if anyone knows how to keep that deep rumble that the duramax's get when the vein in the turbo is opening and closing, i have 4'' exhaust that leads to 6'' stacks and i love the sound that it makes when it does it, any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks again:)
05 white knight 11-06-2009, 06:45 PM I think EFI live is your only option. With it you can put the vanes in that "special" position when at idle. I am in the same boat as you.
Tanc Crusher 11-06-2009, 06:52 PM EFILive is the only way I know of as well.

diesel_power666 11-07-2009, 11:32 AM lol that sucks, i just switched my banks six gun for a ppe hot+2et, i would love to have efi but i just dont know enough about how to use it, and i dont have a laptop i can use for it, thanks alot
bigD16 11-07-2009, 01:25 PM the edge evo or the evo race gives u a rumble at idle a well
diesel_power666 11-07-2009, 02:10 PM ya me ppe and banks did it too when you give er a little gas but it goes away after about 5 min, i just wish there was another way, thats the one thing i love about the cummins is that deep rumble that they have.
Jroderick 11-08-2009, 06:47 PM Believe it or not what really gave the rumble to mine was a the 3'' downpipe from MBRP i did that and the 5'' stainless turbo back with no cat and no muffler and it rumbles really well. plus at full throttle it totaly eliminates the "wooshing" sound the LBZ's have due to the crimped design of the factory downpipe. Sounds alot like a 6.0 powerstroke with exhaust. and not a bad $200 investment for a big drop in egt's and flow
dansdieselp 11-08-2009, 07:14 PM Talk to Dan at PPE and see if they can tune that in to your Hot ET+2. Might be able to.
diesel_power666 11-08-2009, 09:51 PM tune it so it makes that deep rumble?
DurasaurusLBZ 11-08-2009, 10:10 PM What causes the rumble is having the vanes open. Thats accomplished with tuning, pretty simple. Vanes open = straight engine sound
diesel_power666 11-08-2009, 11:07 PM when you say "vanes open= straight engine sound" do you mean that when there open is when it causes it to make that deep sound? can PPE tune that into my HOT ET+2? if so if there able to do i have to send my chip into PPE, and would them tuneing my chip to make this sound all the time cauase any damage to my truck or result in power loss or loss in fuel mileage, thanks again
JD4440 11-09-2009, 12:02 AM I doubt PPE will customize your tuner, seriously. I have it tuned with EFI as open as it will go and it still doesn't mimic the deepest rumble like I believe he wants. I honestly think there's a fueling change to go along with the vane position to get the deepest sound.

Did you log vane position to verify that it is open all the way?
joyner650 11-09-2009, 12:02 PM Well on the stockie truck i get to drive when a ricer is in front i just hit the tow/haul and lay the hammer down. Even with all stock exuast it still gets a nice rumble. Laugh if you want but i dont mind at all.

Haven't but there seems to be a buzzing sound at shut down on some trucks when the vanes are set too low = lower than what mine are set on. It's on the list to do when I have some time to play with it more.

motomax410 11-09-2009, 11:17 PM I've heard the vains on my buddys lbz opened up all the way at idle with efi and it doesn't sound like the noise he is talking about. The rumble he is talking about is much deeper...i would love for my truck to idle all the time like that
ML2500 11-10-2009, 12:12 PM Check out some EFI lope tunes on youtube and see if thats what you want cuz your only gonna get that with efi
