Well, just had to see what ya'll might know.

Powertrain
Engine type Caterpillar 3126 I-6, cast-iron block, head
Displacement 7.2L
Compression ratio 18.9:1
Fuel induction Direct injection
SAE horsepower, hp @ rpm 350 @ 2800
SAE torque, lb-ft @ rpm 580 @ 1400
Transmission type 6-speed Allison MD3560 P
Rpm @ 60 mph 3200
Axle ratio 2.42:1
Transfer-case model GM Corp.
High-range ratio 0.86:1
Low-range ratio 1.31:1
Recommended fuel Diesel

Wondering if anyone might know something that might help... We're looking at... spiffing up something at work. Namely one of our strykers, the one I ride on.

Looking at the specs... the 3560 transmission can take 935 Tq and 310 Hp... I found an edge module that might be compatible for a increase of 40 HP/120 Tq. Given that the HP is already over by spec but the torque isn't, anyone of the mind that the tranny couldn't handle it?

Oh yeah, it'll be moving a 40,000 lb 8x8 vehicle...

Can't help you on your question but I just toured ANAD last month. I went by the area they build them. To see all those people working mandatory 7 days a week to build and rebuild all that equipment was a site to see. I was in uniform and felt like they deserved more credit for keeping our equipment up to speed than us for using it.

Your torque looks off. Is it 850 not 580? Looking at the Cat engine specs a 3126E max rating was 330hp and 860 torque at 2400. This is for RV or Fire rating. It looks like they turned it up another notch for Uncle Sam. I'd be concerned about exhaust temps and engine cooling. Do you run #2 or JP8?

The Edge module brings up another question. The Edge is designed for a 3126E RV rating. If it's thinking you have let's say a 330 hp engine and plug it into a 350 Hp engine what will happen? I'm not sure if you'd get the advertised increase.

The tranny will handle it, the engine won't. Highest rating for on -highway truck is 300 hp, If you wanna make it last, I wouldn't go higher than that.

A friend of mine told me about a yacht company that built 100 boats with that engine at the 350 hp level. 95 of them blew up. That engine doesn't hold up well at all at greatly increased power levels.
