Just downloaded my codes from my truck and I have the P0089 FPR Performance in history, I recently changed the fuel filters and I have a lift pump on my truck. This is the first time I have seen this code what parameters set it specifically? I have had the lift pump for almost 2 years, and like I said this is the first time I have seen it.

Searching here post mention lift pump putting to much out as a reason. May look at changing pressure sensor also. Not always the fix though either. But one needs to log to see what is suppose to commanded from the ECM on the fuel rail and what there is.

If the lift pump is the cause why does it show up now? And not before in the previous years. Other than the code that is set, is there any other reason I should be worried about this? What else could potentially happen?

Also the post mention sensor going bad. But again no idea if that is the reason. One will have connect some device that can monitor the ECM data to see what the sensor is seeing and what the ECM is saying it should be. Everything finally breaks over time.

I realize what your saying, but should I even worry, considering it was in the history not even in the current codes (plugged or new filter causes it, complete extremes). I'm thinking not considering the truck is running fine and no lights have been shown. I always like to error to the caustious.

When you changed the filter, did you prime it with the primer, fill it before installing, or let the lift pump fill the filter? If you filled the filter or let the lift pump fill the filter, air may have been trapped in the filter.

I have set the code before and not had the MIL indicator come on. Usually just a loss of power. Upon the loss of power, I would check the codes and clear. If it returned, I would change the filter (getting pretty good at doing it in parking lots) and cleare the codes again. Sometimes it would throw the code and would not do it again for weeks. No explanation as to why it would throw the code.
