I have always been into trucks and racing but never thought that you could have both at the same time. After going to the California Speedway a couple of weeks ago and seeing a couple of duramax diesel trucks run low 13's to high 12's, i fell in love. i am now thinking of getting a 2500 hd but i dont know much about turbo diesel engines.

before i buy one, i wanted to know what kind of maintenance is involved with one. and what year and tranny should i get with the truck. i would like to run 13's with it but dont know what it takes to get there. i know there are programmers that will give you tons of more power but are there any downsides to them like reliability issues?

i have a 94 trans am with a 383 stroker that runs pretty good but keeps on breaking down every other week. i got fed up with spending most of the time under the hood than behind the wheel. i would like to have something that is very reliable and wont give me problems. what is involved in making these trucks run 13's? thanks in advance for your help.

Some say the 2001's are the best..........I have a mid year 2002 and if given a choice would buy a 2002 or 2003 only........

An ATS or Suncoast will hold the power..........as will a TTS/MIKE L. Frankenstien...........:D

TTS Xtreme and a Suncoast III have my 7200 lb. truck running 13.09-13.2 consistantly.........

You can try the stacks but the Xtreme is IMHO the ticket.

If you spray a little NOS mid to low 12's are there.........

Good Luck,

are you talking about a new transmission or just a torque converter?

how reliable is you setup? have you had any problems?

He is talking about a built up transmission and a torque converter.

Both the SUNCOAST III and the TTS Xtreme are performing better than I expected..........I have had hardly a complaint with my truck and the only thing that has been a dissapointment was the fact that I can't get into the 12's yet.............):h

But seriously, nothing is 100% and anything can and will break.........I have certainly pushed mine and others have pushed even harder and they still have seen only very, very limited failures.........so I would say that with the amount of trucks running Big HP and modified tranny's you can be sure what's being done is working.........:exactly:

Reading a bunch on this site could have answered every one of your questions, or there is always the search button. This area is for: "Post your questions, comments, and suggestions for The Diesel Place site."
I suggest reading the "old 2500-3500" area and the "old power and performance" area for the answers to your questions. The new "aftermarket allison" area will also yeild some interesting reading.
